Is our itinerary too hectic?

Hello again! I'd appreciate some advice on our itinerary. Our flights are to Casa and back from Madrid are fixed. Anything in between is flexible. We are a couple most interested in nature/ scenery.

This is our first attempt on a trip with so much transportation but we're excited about it. However, I just want to make sure it won't be too hectic! Maybe we can extend our stay at one place and take day trips from there?

I'd also like advice on best means of transportation for all marked "via?". My brother recommends we rent a car to be able to move at our own pace and stop where we like. Is this practical?

Here it is:

Arrive Casablanca 12 June 1345
Travel right away to Fez via?
Stay in Fez for 2 nights
Travel to Chefchaouen via? on 14 June and stay one night
On 15 June travel from Chefchaouen to Tangier via? to Tarifa via ferry
On same day travel to Ronda via?
Stay in Ronda for 2 nights
Travel on 17 June to Granada via?
Stay in Granada for 2 nights
Travel to Cazorla on 19 June via?
Stay in Cazorla for 2 nights
Travel to Madrid on 21 June via?
Stay for one night

Flight back from Madrid is at 1535 on 22 June

Thank you!

That is a nightmare itinerary.

It's some years since I went to Morocco but driving there is a bit of an ordeal. There is an 'inshallah' attitude, which means that other drivers will take what will seem to you suicidal risks when overtaking on blind curves going up hills. Public transport may not be convenient for the places you want to go to though.

You only have ten days, so I'd drop Morocco completely. Even then your itinerary in Spain is very rushed for the time you have. If your flights are fixed, then I suggest you might want to just cancel the flight to Morocco and start again with Spain only.

Actually, our main reason for visiting Granada is just seeing Alhambra... Is it practical to just stop by and see it on our way (or stay for one night in Granada instead of two) and add the saved nights to Cazorla?

mjdh1957, I'm sorry I didn't point out that we were only planning to rent a car in Spain. In Morocco, we plan on using train or taxi.

Consider: arrive Casablanca -not much there to hold your interest except the Hassan II mosque which is a fantastic building and IMO a must see. By the time you get from the airport to downtown Casablanca, it will be late afternoon, so relax, have dinner, stay overnight, see the mosque next morning and then head for Fez.

Stay one night, head to Marrakesh and stay a couple of nights. Fly from Marrakesh to Malaga.(not really enough time but heigh ho!) Head for Granada from the airport and pick up your Ronda, Cazorla, Madrid nights.

Still hectic but if you're on the younger side of life, it's a breeze.

As is usually the case when someone titles their post "too hectic", yours is too hectic. I would skip Ronda and Cazorla and substitute Seville. You can do a day trip to Ronda from Seville if you have to.

I don't know Morocco at all so will leave that to others. But re the trip in general . . . all your 2 night stays will net you about 1 full day to see/do things (maybe 1.5 days in a couple of places)

IMO the whole itinerary looks like a 'check off a list' trip.

the only bit of your itinerary that I know anything about is Granada, and IMO just spending a night there will sell it short. The alhambra itself needs 2 visits - one day time, one at night to see the Nasrid palaces lit up and the night-time gardens, and there are the cathedral, Albercin, and the rest of the town to see and enjoy.

you are also missing out Seville which is a truly lovely city with loads to see and do. Malaga is nice too. it looks to me as if you are trying to cram two trips into one and run the risk of falling between two stools.
