Is NO-ONE coming to Scotland?

There were a ton of threads all spring. Only a few current ones. IME countries/states are pretty cyclical on the forums. The UK will have a LOT for a few months and then it quiets down and then all of a sudden a spate of new ones. Italy and France stay active pretty much at the top traffic wise.

Secret's out: anyone who is not planning ahead for Scotland in the summer knows better than to pop on this board and ask about places to stay in Edinburgh in August any later than April (really February, but the clueless still trickle in) of the same year.

I've just returned today from our trip to Scotland (and a bit of northern England). It was wonderful, and the weather was miraculous. We didn't open an umbrella once in almost two weeks. I even got a sunburn!
Once I get unpacked and tackle the laundry, I promise to write a trip report. Thanks to all who helped me plan the trip!

I'll be there late July and early August. How could I not fit in Scotland? I'll have just one night in Edinburgh due to festival activities then off to the Highlands. Have been numerous times and love doing my own research so haven't had a need to post questions.
BTW , most of my trips have been in late spring or September/October so mid-summer will be a new experience. I will refrain from asking if it will rain.

We are! We are! My daughter, sister, and I will be in London for 5 nights, York for 1 night, Edinburgh for 7 nights, and Penzance for 5 nights the latter part of September and early October. We looked at coming in June, but the airfare was lots better in the fall.
I have looked at the offerings of the local tour companies you provided to me, Sheila, asked a few questions here, and read trip reports and others' questions. We have booked our hotels, and it's almost time to make train reservations. My sister, who sometimes has foot problems, has bought a new pair of shoes and is practicing her walking.
Any further suggestions will be appreciated.

Sheila - will be staying in Edinburgh 4 days. Planning on day tripping to either Roslyn Chapel or St Andrews. (Looked at the Rabbies Tours for a day in the Highlands, but the majority of comments here didn't seem to support that use of a day in my time frame.) Do you have a recommendation?
From Edinburgh, it's on to York, then to Southhampton for a cruise along the coast of Northern Spain. Final week of the trip is an apt in Paris.

I'm just home from Scotland. In May we had 3 nights in Edinburgh, 5 in pitlochry and then 1 in St. Andrews. It was great! I've seen pitlochry slammed here as being a tourist trap but for our group it was perfect and made a great base for touring that part of Scotland.

I'm coming!! Mid-July; my first time to Scotland. Will be visiting Skye, Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Loch Lomond.
BigRuss is quite right - I did the biggest chunks of my advice askings much earlier this year and was promptly scared into locking everything down asap by warnings re the EDI festivals (which I knew about) and the Commonwealth Games (which I did not).

I was in Scotland for 3 weeks in May (meant to post a mini trip report as I had lots of help from the forum planning the trip, but didn't get round to it)! Had a great time, though the weather was not as perfect as for the poster above - we had a mix of rain, clouds and sun. But no complaints as the sun shone brilliantly when we needed it most, such as the boat trip to see the puffins on Lunga Island off Mull - definitely a trip highlight. We had 4 nights in Edinburgh, 2 in Callander, 3 on Mull and Skye, a couple along the coast between Skye and Orkney in Gairloch and Tongue, 4 in Orkney, 1 near Inverness, 1 in Pitlochry (the only place we hadn't pre-booked, and it worked out well) and 2 in Crail with a visit to St Andrews from there. We had some car problems along the way, which caused some stress but ultimately added to the adventure and made us really appreciate the helpful and kind Scottish people, especially the mechanic in a remote small town who ended up lending us a car for a week!

I would love to visit again and next summer would have continued with our every 2 yr visit but Italy is calling me next summer. My friend has graciously offered to pick me up in Milan before coming back to the states so Scotland will need to wait another 2 yrs.

I would Sheila - in a heartbeat! Sn old school friend is holidaying in Largs & I'm very, very envious.
Alas, I'm sitting beside a lake in Sydney, a glass wall letting in the sunshine & preventing the sou'westerly from blowing us off our perches! My grilled barramundi has just arrived, so I'll just have to console myself with that & a glass of Skillogalee Riesling.

We could use some help. I'll be in London for a business meeting on Wednesday July 23. My wife and I would like to do a few days in Scotland focusing on distilleries, possibly the whiskey trail near Aberdeen but not necessarily. What's the best way to do that? She could fly to Glasgow or Edinburgh and meet me there on Thursday, or we could maybe meet in Aberdeen. We only have a few days.
