Is it worth getting the Munich Welcome Card?
Has anyone used the Munich Welcome Card? We'll arrive in Munich on a Monday (Deutsches museum will be the only museum open on a Monday), then Tuesday we head to Bertchesgaden for the day, then Wednesday and Thursday all day in Munich. Not sure if it will be beneficial to get the card as they are either a 1-day or 3-day pass. It does mention it includes transportation in the blue areas of the fare zone, but I don't know how far the blue areas go.

Hi Monica!
The Blue Zone covers all of downtown and even goes into the near "suburbs". So that should be good for you if you're visiting the city center, Nymphenburg castle, etc. You could also go to the Olypmic Center.
Munich has some great museums (Alte and Neue Pinakothek, Residenz), so if you are interested in seeing a lot of them, then maybe it's worth thinking about.

My husband, daughter, and I just returned from Munich and found the Welcome Card to be very valuable. As well as discounts at most of the museums, the three day partner pass, which costs 42dm, or about 21.00,allowed us to travel around Munich's U Bahn and therefore the city with great ease. The Ubahn is safe, reliable and indespensible for seeing all the great sites in Munich. There is a diagram of the the transportation system in many of the travel books including Frommes Munich and the Bavarian Alps which was very helpful. It took some time to learn but was really worth the time and effort. It is much easier that it looks. Have a great time. The weather and the people were wonderful and we can't wait to go back.
