Is it safe to travel to Italy under the current Lybia crisis?

We are planning to travel to Italy at the beginning of April 2011. With the current situation in Lybia, with Lybia mad at Italy for allying with the UN, is the risk of military action or terrorism against Italy high?

I wouldn't worry about it. Libya will not strike any foreign territory because Gaddafi knows the entire UN will destroy him if he does. Terrorism is never worth being too terrified of.

I'd recommend not to book a flight via Tripoli.

I would not stay at the Palazzo Khaddafy.

You could ask if it's safe to travel to the US for the same reason...

As soon as you leave the US your personal life expectancy increases as you reduce your risk of being killed by about 90%

It will either be 100% safe or not, and you will only know that after you have returned home!

Unless you plan on yachting in the Gulf of Sirte, I'd say the odds are that you won't notice any effect at all.

don't leave home - you have more a chance of being hurt or killed on the highway to the airport than anywhere in Europe due to terrorism.

In fact do not leave your house - chances are greater of being hurt in an accident near your house.

stay home - keep windows closed - do not answer the door.

"stay home - keep windows closed - do not answer the door."

But that increases the chances of them falling down stairs, tripping over the cat, being scalded by hot water, having a toaster fall into the bath or being shot by a family member.

Odds are overwhelming you will be just fine but would

insuremytrip.com and monitor travel.state.gov

for travel alerts... always a wise move.

headed there also in a couple of weeks only going to Amalfi

but they are having problems with refugees to the south

of there so might not further go to the islands down there.

Happy Journey,

Most insurance companies do not cover terrorism. Just an FYI.
