Is it possible in Rome?

Does anyone remember having a bathroom in Rome that does not have a bidet? Many modern hotels in France are dispensing with them but less so in Italy. IMO they just get in the way. Please, no lectures on the attributes of the bidet! Thanks.

The following lovely hotel was bidet-free in 2001 (at least in Rm. 202):

Hotel Due Torri
Vicolo del Leonetto 23 Rome 00186

My modern hotel, Visconti Palace, had a bidet in the bathroom.

I can't remember ever seeing a bidet in any Rome hotel I've stayed in.

Hotel Valadier doesn't have them, at least not in the rooms I've been in.

Live near Rome and visit it frequently and never stayed in a hotel without a bidet including the Holiday Inn: clearly Jody and I do not move in the same circles!

Hi Daph,

Will you refuse to stay at hotels that have bidets?

I've always seen a bidet. Traveling on the cheap years ago, we chose rooms "without bath." While the toilet and shower/tub were down the hall, there was always a sink in the room, and sometimes a bidet--just in a corner of the room or in a separate room. Sometimes there was a plastic bidet that you could pull out from under the wall-mounted sink. A cup was provided for filling the bidet from the sink. So many variations. . .

When we built our house a couple of years ago, we had a bidet installed. Hate it when a hotel doesn't have a bidet-so convenient.
