Is it likely to still be ski weather in Chamonix in April?
I know you're gonna hate this question but I want the answer so I'll ask!
I'm curious if it's typically still ski season around Chamonix in April? I.e., should I expect total snow cover and hotels to still be full with skiers by the last half of April or is the ski season usually starting to taper off by then?
I'd like to do a day trip to ride the cable cars up to the top and maybe stop half way down and walk the rest of the way down, in late April. Is this even remotely feasible in late April?
Go ahead; flame me! I can hear you all now, saying "How the **** would we know what the weather will be like four months from now, you jerk?"

Hi Tom,
no flaming from here. when we used to go skiing [think about 30 years ago] it was common to go at easter, even when Ester was late - ie end April. nowadays [think global warming] the impression i have us that by then, you would be lucky to be able to ski, except in the highest resort - eg Tignes.
Here's a link you may find useful:

so in most years, walking in Chamonix wouldn't be a problem.
have you tried the local tourist board?
