Is Eiffel tower closed from 25-31 Dec?
Not able to book even to 2nd level of Eiffel tower. Wanted to book on 24th,25th or 26th December 2016. However the official website has disabled the dates 25th to 31st. Is it closed on these days or just kept online booking closed for these dates?

At this time of year it can be unwise to book ahead anyway, because the weather can be really bad certain days. While I'm sure there must be a certain charm to being on the Eiffel Tower when it is wrapped in fog, it is not the experience for which most people are looking. Also you should know that the tower is closed for safety reasons if the weather is damp and freezing. At the moment, the city is under a blanket of brown pollution, so bad that there are driving restrictions today and probably tomorrow. On the news last night, they showed the view of the city from above, and it was disgusting.

>>Thank you all! Will go and get in line!<<
Why? I personally can't imagine wanting to spend half a day standing in line in the cold and possibly wet to go up to see over Paris (with no Eiffel Tower in the view) . . . go up Tour Montparnasse instead.

Wow kerouac, that photo is amazing and appalling. We get like that sometimes in the winter. It's called inversion and the air gets trapped down in the valley and just gets dirtier and dirtier from fireplaces, and cars mostly. It's ugly brown "stuff".
I don't know why, but I never think of Paris that way although last time I was in Montmartre it was hazy but nothing close to that pic.

I went to Eiffel Tower this last week end.
Didn't want to queue so went to pillar for the stairs.
5 min wait. 333 steps to first floor. From there I think you can access upper floors. We didn't and went back.
It was lovely.
But I am an European so I am used to walking ;-)

Walking 333 steps is difficult! And Tour Montparnasse is also on our itinerary. But Eiffel Tower is must for the first-timers accompanying with me. Also have plan to take funicular ride, Montmartre. We will be staying in Bastille. Crefloors, can you guide me how to reach and get to the funicular stations, up and down? Is going to flee market at Clignancourt possible after visit to Montmartre (Moulin Rouge) area?

If you can't get over to the ET and it's a clear, calm day (no wind), go look at the Tower from the ground level, then head over to the Parc Andre Citroen and take the hot air balloon ride. You'll get a great view, usually no crowds at all (last time I did it, there were only 4 of us; it holds maybe 15-20)

The Montmartre funicular to go up is at place St Pierre/place Suzanne Valadon (which are right next to each other). Just get out at Anvers metro stop and walk up (north) rue Steinkerque, you can't miss it -- plus a zillion others will be doing the same thing.
I hope once you go up you will know where it is to go back down.
Yes, of course you can go to the flea market if you want, at least they are in the same general direction. You have to go to Porte de Clignoncourt metro stop at the end of line 4. From Montmartre stop Anvers, you go one stop and then transfer to line 4. Or, if you are walking around Montmartre, you could just go up to Lamarck Caulincourt metro stop on line 12, and then transfer to line 4 at Marcadet Poissonniers.

There are maps in the metro stations showing you the surrounding streets and exits, basically you have to walk a few blocks up (north) to get to it. It's not far.

The ET is closed right now, for the 2nd day, due to a strike, which may go on for a while yet (www.toureiffel.paris/en.html).
"Due to a social movement, the Eiffel Tower will remain closed today."

Omg, I can't stand them, take a snake anytime. NYC freaks me out the same way. Please tell me this will work.
