Is Cordoba worth a visit

Yes! For the Mezquita alone, the enormous and intricate mosque with, unfortunately, a Catholic cathedral planted - centuries later - into the middle of it. And in the Juderia behind the Mezquita, look for the Calleja de las Flores, a lovely little lane with a picture-postcard view of the Mezquita bell tower. The Maimonides Hotel right across from the Mezquita is not particularly agreeable, but the location is good and the price reasonable. El Caballo Rojo, a restaurant just off the Mezquita plaza, serves excellent Andalusian cuisine; it's in a somewhat higher price range. "Modern" Cordoba is totally uninteresting, but it can be easily avoided, for the most part.

The Mezquita is not to be missed!

If you are a fan of the diverse history of southern Spain and enjoy good Andalusian cuisine, then it is definitely worth it. I did this as a day trip (as many people do) from Seville. The mezquita is fantastic, and I enjoyed lunch at Casa Pepe in the juderia, a short walk from the mezquita. You may also be able to see the old, tiny synagogue and stroll through the whitewashed homes of the juderia. The town also has some old churches, but they tend to be closed most of the time.
