Hi,
I previously posted on Braga asking if the city is a place tourists visit mostly for the churches. The overall feedback is that Braga is a modern city and is not mostly a spiritual destination. Okay, so my next question is whether you think Braga is among Portugal’s most attractive destinations, kind of like Lisbon, Coimbra, etc. I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but it would help me choose my itinerary wisely. I already a lot of places on my list, but if Braga ranks with the best of them, I will add it. Thanks.
Is Braga Among Portugal’s Most Attractive Destinations?

Why dont you google it and click Images to see photos of it? thats what I do and then you can decide.
It depends on what else you have on the list that might be replaced with Braga. Why not share your itinerary so far to see if you can replace something with Braga.
Braga is nice, but if you are interested in churches, Bom Jesus is a must. We spent an afternoon in Braga and while we enjoyed our time there, it was not a "highlight" for us.

greekness2004 also asked this question back in October, but never came back to acknowledge the answers. I wonder why?

ribeirasacra,
In the beginning of this forum, I said I went and posted in October, but said the question was a bit different. This is why I am asking this question now. Thanks.
Yes, it is very subjective, and it's also a matter of how much time you have. I've been to Braga two or three times and have enjoyed it, but I wouldn't say it is up there with other northern Portugal places such as Viana do Castelo, Valenca, Guimaraes, the Peneda Geres park, or the Douro Valley for instance.
I will also say that if you're driving, be prepared to be confused. I have driven a lot all over Portugal and getting out of Braga is something I have not mastered. The last time I was there, a helpful native insisted on leading me to the right freeway entrance in her car. This was after I had spent at least a half hour trying to find the way out of this small city!
I found Braga good for shopping but not so much for cultural things. In no way comparable to Lisbon!
Have you thought about Porto? Evora? Much more to see than in Braga.
Hi. Aveiro, Guimarães, Lisbon and Porto are on my list. Only Lisbon I have visited before. You guys have been great. I think I will skip Braga based on the feedback I got. Thanks again.
Guimaraes is definitely more interesting - the whole town centre is medieval and it's been given a facelift because it was European Cultural Capital last year.
