Is Bellinzona Too Far To Daytrip From Lucerne?

Jump to last reply

Husband and I will be spending a few days in Lucerne in May and are planning to purchase a (4) day Swiss Pass. My husband has a fascination with Bellinzona(and it's castles), but I'm worried that it's too far from Lucerne for a daytrip. Would we have time to appreciate Bellinzona?

Also, is the route from Lucerne to Bellinzona(via Arth-Goldau, I believe)a scenic one? Would it be a free trip covered by the Swiss Pass?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts, advice or suggestions.
