Ireland....where to drop off car near Dublin

Hi! Flying into Shannon and renting a car for 6 days before heading to Dublin. Any suggestions as to where to drop off the car near Dublin so we don't have to drive in Dublin at all. Would need a bus, train, cab from the drop off location to our hotel in Dublin. Will have the same question for London area........flying from Dublin to London City Airport, picking up a car for 2 days and then returning to London.....where to drop it off?

Thanks!
Doreen

Depends who you rent from? Most operators have offices on the outskirts of the City (Dublin or London) you would need to check their location information.

That is true......I haven't booked cars yet. Any suggestions as to rental place with best prices. I will need an automatic which I know is more expensive.

Guessing US Licence holder? Dan Dooley contact their US office direct for the best quote, Easytoursireland do deals with Hertz at lower rates. Budget are a good option and used them UK and Ireland myself for 30yrs.

Wondering where to pick up a car in Dublin on the way to Kilkenny. Probably renting through Hertz.

Going the opposite direction, we flew into Dublin, spent a couple of days and then took the DART out to Dun Laoghaire to pick up a Dan Dooley car. You might drop there on your way from the West. They don't have an office there, but we met a young man in the parking area right near the DART station and did the paperwork on the hood of the rental.
