Ireland / Wales

We may need to change our plans a bit. WE are planning to drive throughout Ireland with friends for 3 weeks in May and then we would take the ferry to Wales. We may end up with 8 days in Wales and that seems like maybe too many days. We also are flying out of Dublin so need to return there by ferry. WE possibly will stay in Dun Laoghaire both the day before and day that we return from Wales. We will have already spent time in Dublin, any suggestions of things to do there without a car??? If 8 days in Wales is too much here are a couple of thoughts... we could drive on our own from Portrush to Dublin and then take the ferry to Wales. I would imagine it will be expensive to pick up a car in Portrush and then drop in Dublin. Another thought is to back track and do Bruna Boinne from Dublin as an organized tour. Are there organized tours that do this???
