Ireland road trip....Shannon-Belfast-Dublin
10 day self drive itinerary suggestions
Arriving Shannon on 5/30...departing Dublin on 6/9
*newbees to Ireland
*2 mature adults
*rental car and accommodations are not yet booked
* Interested in...
seeing some of the Wild Atlantic Way & maybe an island ferry excursion, a castle or 2
lovely towns and amazing vistas
Belfast before last stop in Dublin
stay in B&Bs...a castle? suggestions that hover between budget & mid-range
* Hoping to do 3-3 night stays...ish...in centralized locations that are easy drives to sights and activities.
Ideas...thoughts...suggestions?

Something like, Arrive Shannon head to Galway for 3 nights. Then Sligo for 2 nights, Portrush for 2 nights, Belfast 1 night, Dublin 2 nights.
Ireland doesn't lend itself to fixed base see things in a radius unless you are just concentrating on one or two specific areas.
With 10 days you could cover the Wild Atlantic Way in a road trip from Shannon to Derry. Then see the North Antrim Coast and Glens, Belfast and Dublin. doing a road trip you would actually drive less miles than fixed bases as you wouldn't be backtracking over and over. This is a 10 day plan I often give https://goo.gl/xrDQtD possibly take some bits from that?

http://www.clareisland.info/ You could do Clare and Achill after Galway.
This is a beautiful area. So glad you are taking in the North Antrim Coast.
Good location in Belfast, look at the Black cab tours

Drop off car before going into Dublin for the day. Aircoach rt is good. Try and book your Dublin hotels soon, they fill fast. Jury's Inn Christchurch area is good. I am sure Buswell's and The Harding are booked.

Depending on what days you will actually be in Dublin, check out the B&B accommodations at Trinity College.
A little different ferry excursion goes from Glengarrif to Garnish (aka Garinish) Island and some lovely gardens. Ah, never mind, looks like you won't be in the neighborhood.
