Ireland - Need help with Itinerary

Jump to last reply

Hello! My mother, sister, a friend and I are flying into Shannon June 14 and out of Dublin June 22. We have not agenda yet and I will be working on that. I assume we should rent a car in Shannon and drive our way back to Dublin? I this the best way. What are the highlights? We would also appreciate any recommendations for accommodation and places to eat. We are trying to stay on a budget so nothing too pricey please.
Thanks in advance!!

The Typical Tourist trail for 5 days pre Dublin would be:
    Cliffs of Moher
    Dingle
    Ring of Kerry
    Blarney Castle
    Rock of Cashel
    Glendalough

Personally I try to be more off the tourist trail where possible.

Consider land Shannon and get the bus to Ennis. (Grey Gables Guest house? You can get an afternoon trip to the Cliffs of Moher and back or just get the bus there stay a couple of hours and the bus back.
Day 2 early bus to Galway, Take a Connemara Tour for the day dropping back for a second night in Ennis.

Day 3 Bus/train to Limerick and bus to Killarney. (Sunnybank guesthouse, Eviston Hotel)See the national park and Muckross house gardens or Ross Castle in the afternoon.

Day 4 day tour either Ring of Kerry or Dingle spend second night in Killarney

Day 5 bus to Cork either pop up to Blarney by bus or down to Cobh by train night in Cork

Day 6 if you want Mass then there are a couple of good cathedrals in Cork/Cobh

Possibly head by bus /train to Dublin in the Afternoon

Day 7 if not in Dublin, get there

Day 8 more Dublin or a day tour, Glendalough and Wicklow to the south or Newgrange ect to the north

    Day 9 flight home.

Of course you can do all that and a little extra if you rent a car and self drive.
