Ireland Itinerary- feedback please
DH and I had hoped to make it to County Donegal on this trip (our second) but finally had to admit that we just don't have time. This is our much revised itinerary. Please give me your feedback. If you can recommend any B&Bs, restaurants, daytrips and "must see" scenery, we would appreciate it.
Sept. 10th, Fri: fly out
Sept. 11th, Sat: arrive Shannon. Drive to Cliffs of Moher. We are going to try to see more of the Burren than we saw last time. Also hoping to have lunch at Monk's in Ballyvaughan. Overnight in Doolin.
Sept. 12th, Sun: drive down coast road to Loop Head, then take ferry. Overnight in Castlegregory (if Shores Country House has a vacancy). If not, on to Dingle.
Sept. 13th, Mon: overnight in Dingle. Spend the day exploring more of the peninsula.
Sept. 14th, Tues: Drive to Kenmare with stop at Muckross Farm and Killarney National Park. Overnight in Kenmare.
Sept 15th, Wed: Drive the Beara Peninsula, visit Garinish Island. Overnight in Kenmare.
Sept. 16th, Thurs: Mizen Head and again overnight in Kenmare.
Sept. 17th, Fri: drive to Kinsale via coast road, overnight there. Visit Charles Fort.
Sept. 18th, Sat: Kinsale for the day, overnight there.
Sept. 19th, Sun: drive from Kinsale to Bunratty. Hope to sidetrack to Rock of Cashel. Would like to see Bunratty Folk Park and Medieval Banquet.
Sept. 20th, Mon: fly home at 1:00
Thanks, in advance, for your help!
Diane

Diane, that's a nice itinerary and not too rushed. You'll have some time to enjoy the ambiance of all the places.
I think you made the right decision and leave Galway, Sligo, and Donegal for the next trip.
You can stop for 2 hours at Cashel -- no problem. Make sure you book the Medievel Banquet if you decide to go. The B&B you are staying in at Bunratty can make a reservation for you. We thoroughly enjoyed the Bunratty Lodge.
When you go to Mizen Head, stop by Crookhaven and have lunch at the Crookhaven Inn and have a pint at O'Sullivans. Hoping you will have great weather.

Thanks for your help, Budman. If I recall, I have a pint to drink on your behalf.
I have been trying to research all the B&Bs from people's recommendations here. So far, we have booked Daly's House in Doolin, The Shores in Castlegregory, Cill Bhreac in Dingle and 3 nights at the Sea Shore Farm Guesthouse in Kenmare (this one is pricey for us!). When is High Season over anyway? I'll try Bunratty Lodge but still need someplace in Kinsale and this time, price is an object. Can anyone help!?

Diane,
The Shores is absolutely wonderful, and Bunratty Lodge is an excellent B&B. You will not be disappointed in either. Haven't been to any of the others. And, yes, please have a pint in my honor.

Hi Diane. My husband and I are planning a trip to Ireland in May 2005. We haven't made any bookings yet but, based on a couple of recommendations from this forum, we are looking at Cephas House for Kinsale. If you do a search on Cephas you should come up with the posts containing the recommendations.
Our budget is about 35 euros per person sharing and this seemed to fit the bill.
Hope this helps.
Lisa.

Hi again Diane, I found this information on a previous Kinsale post -I think it was from wojazz3.
I don't believe that the Cephas House has it's own website. They can be found at:
http://www.townandcountry.ie/premise...remesisid=1971
Whic is Town and Country's site. You can also see pictures of the view at:
http://www.geocities.com/obeirne_ire...03/kinsale.htm
and there are a few more pictures on the more pictures link. Additionally, if you go to the 1st Crookhaven link on the same site and then it's More Pictures link at the bottom, you'll find some pictures there. All of the pics are "clickable" to enlarge.

Thanks Lisa for the help! DH chose Sceilig House- don't ask me why. hrug: We did snag Bunratty Lodge! I was able to make all my reservations over e-mail which is a considerable change from last year's trip. Even with upgrading to Sea Shore Farmhouse, we came in $31 under our B&B budget- more pints for me
Thanks!
Thanks!
