ira...6 persons to Hotel Bonaparte from CDG. Shuttle or taxi?

ira...upon your recommendation, 3 couples of us will be spending a week at the Hotel Bonaparte beginning September 12. We are debating between reserving a shuttle from CDG or just getting a van taxi. What would you do? If you recommend the shuttle, do you have a preferred company? Thanks!

Hi Mk,

Call the hotel and ask what the shuttle rate would be. They have an arrangement with one of the shuttle firms and can make the reservation for you.

Six of you would fill the van.

I don't know what a taxi for 6 would cost.

Enjoy your visit.

IN theory, a taxi for six will cost a regular taxi fare (let's guess 50 euro) plus about 8 euro in supplements for those extra people and about a euro per bag. So, maybe 65 euro? I don't think it will be that easy to find one, though -- a taxi willing to take six adults. I have seen some larger van-type taxis at CDG, but even those weren't as large as the big shuttle vans, and I don't think a taxi is required to accept more than five people.

Maybe someone else has personal experience with that, I just wouldn't count on it being that easy.

We just stayed at the Bonaparte in May and took the shuttle they recommended back to the airport on departure. I hate to say it, but I have already forgotten the shuttle name and what it cost per person. It was a very nice van, seating six as Ira said, driven by a polite and well dressed driver. I would not hesitate to use them again.

On an unrelated note, I envy you. The Bonaparte is centrally located and Paris is a delight. We would walk out the front door each morning, turn left, walk a hundred feet or so to the first cross street, turn left, and have a nice coffee at the cafe a few doors down, just across from St Sulpice church. What a great way to start the day.

Ira, I bet you have sat at the same cafe, haven't you?

Hi dwz,

Yes. It is the Café de la Mairie.

We often have a glass of something in the late afternoon and watch the fountains.

Ira,

Thanks for supplying the name of the café. It certainly is a nice spot to relax and watch the world go buy. Not to busy, but just busy enough to be interesting, no?

Thanks to all of you for your advice. I will call the hotel and ask about a shuttle to pick us up upon arrival. Thanks too, for the Cafe suggestion!

Ask me how excited I am!!!!

A shuttle for all of you may cost more than two taxis. Just agree to split the cost of two taxis among you.

If you go across the square from the Café de la Mairie on the other side of the fountain, you can see Catherine Deneuve going in and out of her building.

Spying on Catherine Deneuve is the newest pastime?

Spying is not the issue ... it's just one more reason to love the area around Place St Sulpice, however!

I can't believe you are discussing Catherine Deneuve, and no mention of Hermes right across the street! Please post after your stay, I stayed there a couple of years ago and would love an update.
