Our famous Ira is already a legend but I met him and I can prove it! Thanks for that great GTG in my town with also Ira's Lady Wife, hdm and hubby Ron.
The video is on 2 websites, the quality may differ from one to the other. I wish it was better... Turn the volume on! ![]()

It's very nice to see Ira and you. I always wonder what people here look like.
What a treat! I wish I was there!
ira - you don't look near as imposing as your posts would suggest. One of the pictures suggest that thre may have been some trading of spouses...
hdm - you look every bit as beautiful and gracious as your posts would suggest. What was the camera that you were using?
Would that we had seen more of the hostess...
Exactly, precisely as I had envisioned him...
Hi Coco,

It was very nice of you to invite Roberta and me up to Dijon for the visit to the market and a quick tour of your city.
Loved your apt.
Your video is great.
Note to everyone: We had just finished two weeks in Austria and Germany - I am not always that .... bulky.
<What was the camera that you were using?>
Sony Cybershot DSC-W50 but the quality is much better on my computer (59Mo)
Ira, you're not bulky!
This was a great video. Looks like you all are having a good time. Thank you for the treat. I can't wait just 8 more days until we are in Paris and Rome for 3 weeks. Now a possible side trip to Dijion---mmmm.
The Famous Ira has finally been "revealed". Bulky is only in the eye of the viewer.
hi, coco,
am i being thick?
which one's Ira???
regards, ann
Ira's the one in the red sweater.

>ira - you don't look near as imposing as your posts would suggest. <
That is only an illusion.
That was great! I didn't get sound, but that could be just me as I had a little equipment disaster the other day and I may not have all the cords plugged into the right places.
I really love actually seeing Fodorites in photos (great), videos (even better)or in person (the best) - friendly, happy, helpful faces with the names. Thanks, Coco!
Thanks Marianna, That is a pity you can't have the sound, you would hear Ira's speech and Hdm enumerate what she bought at the patisserie. Try on another computer!
Ira is hard to identify without his lightbulb. Thanks for clearing up the confusion.
And thanks for the great video. Loved the background music too!
hi, Ira,
while you were away.
thanks for clearing that up.
I got into a bit of trouble for using the
glad you're back.
regards, ann
Don't know why, but Ira is just as I have pictured him for years! What a wonderful time you all seemed to be having. Oh, those strawberries look so luscious.
BTW, Ira, when I was at the Domus Aurea Golden House tour a few months back, I met a fellow Fodorite from Chicago. Among other things, we talked about our favorite posters, and you were on top of her list to meet!
So you're famous, even in Rome!
Thanks for the video. It was truly special!
OMG, I just watched it again.

I never knew hdm was Ira's LW! Lucky gal you are, hdm!
Great video! Glad to "see" Dijon again, as I was there just last month!

Monica
Thank you for the video Coco - I loved it!
I think hdm is not Ira's wife. HDM is married to Ron. Roberta (Ira's LW) is married to Ira.
.
That's how I interpret the above
Ira doesn't look how I expected, but now that I see him I feel it fits - the professorial, friendly look.
Coco, this is just brilliant! What a treat to see Ira, hdm, and their spouses. Thanks for posting the link.
Ira, I agree with WillTravel: you look very professorial indeed.
Anselm
What a fun video - thank you so much! The food looks ravishing - oh, and so does Ira . . .
Ira and HDM are such a cute couple! Where is coco?
I love the way the music is in the background. What a nice video.
Wonderful video, but where ow where is the lovely Coco? I even looked for reflections of her in the showcases, but to no avail.

Did any of you take pictures of Corinne that you could post?
It was good to see how the mental images of Ira and hdm matched the actuality. Ira came close. You could see his sly humor in his knowing smile.
It's always fun to see what Fodorites really look like. Thanks, Coco.
Great video!

It's always nice to put faces (and even voices!) together with the names.
I fear you've caused great confusion, though, since many people now seem to think that hdm is Ira's wife!
I don't imagine that the REAL lady wife, Roberta, is too happy about that!
Isn't Ira in Red and HDM with the brown hair?
Ah! What a neat little video.
Thanks for sharing Cocofromdijon! I have another 1 1/2 years until I'm back in France again (well, Paris to be more precise).
Thanks Coco for a great video. It really is lovely to put a face to Ira and his dw and friends.
Loved the music.
Can't wait to get back to France next year.
P
I watched at the video before reading the thread and I knew Ira was the one with the red sweater , amazing !!!

You ALL look great, but I have to watch it again carefully because I didn't see Coco !! Coco, where are youuuuu ?? (I've only heard your sweet voice)
Fantastic!

Ira - I've always imagined you to be a very thin person. Well, maybe you were...until you went on your 2-week trip.
Well, I feel quite famous! This is such a charming souvenir for us of a wonderful day. I'm just sorry that Coco isn't in it, but I'll try to post one of our pictures of her -- she's adorable.
We had a such wonderful time that day -- the market, the conversation, the jokes, lunch, wine -- and all in Dijon. What more could you want? Coco arranged the whole thing and was our charming guide. Ron and Ira, the two university profs, had plenty to talk about, and I thought Roberta was so elegant. She's one of those women who can actually wear a shawl and have it stay put and look classy. Whenever I try, I look like I've just draped a piece of cloth over my shoulders and I tug at it all day. Both Coco and Roberta are a ball to spend time with and we had lots of good laughs.
As I watched the video, I recognized three very important things:
1. Always make your bed. You never know when company's going to drop over with a video camera.
2. I need a new hairdresser.
3. My mouth gets all twisty or something when I try to speak French.
Merci, Coco, and cheers to Ira and Roberta!
coco, thanks for posting this video. I'm sorry that the camera wasn't turned on you as well!
Ira, it's nice to see your smiling face. I wasn't sure which of the handsome gentlemen was you at the beginning but when you pulled out your camera I knew.
such a fun and cute video -- thanks so much!
This was great - thank you for sharing!
YK,
That happens to all of us after a two week vacation. It's called rationalization!!!
Bravo! That was great. You all looked like you were having a superb time.

Now I have some ideas for the next NJ/NY/CT/PA GTG in November.
For the record, I'm 5'11" and currently weigh 185lbs. I got married 37 years ago today and weighed 178lbs. IRA looks just fine.
Such a treat. But I wanted to see Coco!
BTW! We had the best pizza I've ever had in Dijon, of allplaces!
How strange to be actually sitting in this wonderful apartment at Coco's computer watching this video. Jody where is that pizza place? BTW Coco is just as I pictured her only younger and the apartment is much prettier than it looks in the video. Coco I didn't know there was sound. I'll try to turn the volume on. I tried to email you but it looks like aol is down right now. I'll try again later.
Ira I'm going to the market right now and I'll try to find that tire bouchon.
What a treat Coco - thanks a bunch!
Ira, you look exactly as the Prof I imagined you to be! I must compliment your Lady Wife on her attire - very chic indeed.
I'm happy you like it, thank you all
I can see you were very curious to see Ira and hdm.
You know you can call me home this morning if you want.
I'm not on the video because I was the one who filmed of course, but you can see my back on 2 of Ira's photos at the market at the beginning of the video.
Jody, is the pizzeria "Gustoso" near Café des Ducs on rue de la Liberté, near place de la Liberation? The chef won the 3rd place to the World championship in May in Italy and is already the France championship winner. He will open another pizzeria in front of the brasserie where we had lunch with Ira (that is very close to the apartment and Magnin museum).
Hi Micheline, I hope you're enjoying the market at this time (the light version I think on Thursdays) I hope you won't get lost this time!
Have a good day all!
I have a big insomniac grin on my face in front of my computer at 4 AM.
And Coco, it was great seeing you as the person on the other end of the lens. Steven Spielberg has nothing on you. Love your accent.
Merci beaucoup Nikki, you can go back to bed now

Sweet dreams!
Hi Micheline,
>Ira I'm going to the market right now and I'll try to find that tire bouchon.<
I have been looking for one for umpteen years. I have been quite happy with this one. It is all wood. I think it cost 6E.
I was very pleased with the sale, because I saw similar ones elsewhere for 7E. Great bargain.
I did go back to sleep, and I dreamed about a Fodors get-together.
Ira, I particularly like the way you take off your glasses once you learn that Coco is recording sound.
Micheline...It was at Gustoso on rue Liberte , right near to thePl de la Liberation.
Luigi the owner was Le Champion de France 2005 de la pizza. I don't know why that gave me a good laugh!!
Coco, I didn't see your post before I answered above. Yes , it was Gustoso and it was SOOOO GOOD!
I was right then
<Jody, is the pizzeria "Gustoso" near Café des Ducs on rue de la Liberté, near place de la Liberation? The chef won the 3rd place to the World championship in May in Italy and is already the France championship winner. Great to finally put faces to names.
Merci, chere Coco !
M.
If you can read French Jody :

Mathieu "M" comme Mathieu Chedid the famous French singer?
Who knew Coco was a budding Spielberg?!
We were in many of the same places with Coco just a couple of days before Ira and hdm. (Thankfully, no video of us!) Looks like you guys had a great time. Your lunch surely looks better than ours. And those strawberries & red currants. (Miam! Miam! to quote Harriet) Ira, I love your line "where the Dijonnais are as good as their mustard."
Thanks for posting this, Coco. I've been busy with other things the past couple of days, but I promise I will finish my trip report on Burgundy today.
Hi Nikki,

>Ira, I particularly like the way you take off your glasses once you learn that Coco is recording sound. <
Helps me to speak better.
YAAAY...
Video of people I enjoy...
HDM, aren't you supposed to let your lips get twisty making French sounds?
Ira and Roberta! The Knight and his Lady Wife...very cool.
Thank you CoCo...I'm trying to talk my "Ira" into going to Dijon and Burgourne
Good to see Ira, Lady Wife, hdm, and her DH. I enjoy watching the videos. Thanks Coco. Got to check out those eateries mentioned when I get there in fall.
About Coco, if I remember correctly, there were photos posted by Susan at the wine testing. If you find her reports and click on her album, you will see the famous Coco in one photo.
What a cool little video! Ira has been revealed! Amazingly, he looks like I always imagined him.
It looks like you all had a good time. I love market days.
Johanna
Since I enjoy Ira's posts so much, I assumed he looked more like me ... alors, no, he looks like himself. Merci, Coco, quite entertaining.
Coco wrote : " Mathieu "M" comme Mathieu Chedid the famous French singer?... "
Mais oui, Cherie !
Thank you for sharing the video -- I found it very hearwarming so see the international power of the Internet, and this forum, in making connections.
You're right thit cho, our planet has become a village!

M what an honour!
For those who don't know you yet, I chose this video because they might know the movie "Les triplettes de Belleville" and we can also see Django Reinhardt.
I used some of his music as the background music on my video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMzoNO3wdY4&mode=related&search=
Ahhhhh..... Les triplettes de Belleville ! Marvellous, animated film, (even if I have to say so myself).
And yes, I recognised the music on your video immediately; Django Reinhardt is wonderful. Such a master of 30's jazz. I have selected bits and pieces of his music on various CDs but no complete album.
Salut!
I absolutely love Qui de Nous Deux.
That was so fun - to enjoy a little taste (ha) of Dijon and to see and hear all of you nice people. What a good time you seemed to be having. And the food shots...merci!
I still remember a fabulous meal my brother, mother and I enjoyed in Dijon so so many years ago, capped by delicious and tiny raspberries (so expensive, for us, that Mom kept the receipt and recently came across it!).
Correction. It was a cheese tasting and the photo is not in Susan's album. I must have a senior moment.
I got the sound, Coco! That was so fabulous! So nice to see and hear everyone.
Much better isn't it Marianna?
Thank you sooooo much for posting this. It is fun to see what you all really look like. Ira has been such a help to me on this site, as indeed have many of you. Seeing this made me HAPPY! Merci beaucoup!
My pleasure mimipam
I loved your report and video, Ira.
Many years ago I did a summer class at the Universite de Dijon and I have been back a few times since.
When my daughter did her junior year at the Universite de Montpellier, she went to visit the family I stayed with in Dijon!
Thanks so much for bringing back memories!
Hi Faux,

Coco gets all the credit for the video.
Glad it brought back pleasant memories.
I always wanted to know what a legend looks like, now thanks to Coco, I do now. And so good to see you(nice smile) hdm.
I too would like to see the legendary peanut farmer in a photo but my old computer won't cooperate.
Someone please describe what i'm missing - balding pot belly or fit as fiddle, tall, short, young, old etc. And i hope it's not the naked Ira of the three word game!
There's photo on coco's site
How absolutely delightful!

hdm, where was the video on our GTG?
So nice to see Fodors friends enjoying France. Toronto + Madison = Dijon!
What a fabulous equation!
h, you sound wonderful - like a local
While I have spent a lot of time in Burgundy, I wouldn't mind going back there sometime on a home exchange. It would furnish me a base to have all my friends there from the Late Middle Ages over for dinner!
I will be going to Vienna in a couple of weeks for this year's trip. I will settle for that! I have an apartment near Schoenbrunn. My best friend from grad school is coming for the first part of the swap. We will also be going to Budapest for a few days. Neither of us have been there. While we both have been to Vienna before, there are always things to do in a big city like that. We may go to Bratislava as well. Bratislava is really just a day trip.
I have a car with the exchange--and there will be plenty of opportunities for wrong turns!
<h, you sound wonderful - like a local>
ah, Starrs, I see the drugs have kicked in!
You're too modest Harriet! Remember all the merchants you talked to at the market, there are proofs on the video.
bookmarking to enjoy when I get home.
What the heck, it's only a job so I played the video just now. Merci coco, what a treat so see everyone's faces and hear their voices.
I have a good friend, a beautiful, accomplished, intelligent, single woman-of-a-certain-age who speaks of the kind of men she likes to share her time with as "The Barons" and claims she can always tell when she sees a man whether is a true "Baron"...I shared this video and she smiled gently and said "Ah, yes, two Barons..."
Kudos, Ira and Ron...high praise, indeed! (And heres to the Baronesses that keep them lively!)
How wonderful!
STILL haven't seen a picture of Coco.

Didn't any of you take a picture of her while she was filming away, or did she never take the video camera away from her eye?
Very early (or late for you Dick)!

<did she never take the video camera away from her eye?> No!
BTW Youtube just got 1000 visits and I suppose 98% are coming from here!
How curious you are!
Well, Corinne, since Tammy is in California visiting her Mother, I can stay up as late as I want. Nothing to do here while she is gone, except think of other lovely women. I know what you look like, but I want other Fodorites to be able be able to share that pleasure.

(In case there is any doubt, she is MUCH prettier than Ira.)
Except for the tweed coat, Ira looks exactly how I imagined him
>.I shared this video and she smiled gently and said "Ah, yes, two Barons..."<

Thank you, LJ.
>Didn't any of you take a picture of her ...<

I have 4 shots of Coco. In each one, I have the back of her head.
She's a pro at this, isn't she?
Ah, LJ, your friend is a woman of impeccable taste!
I'll look for a picture of Coco and see if I can figure out how to post it. I'll blow her cover!
Oh please Harriet don't!!!

Sfowler found the youtube video by chance and she added a comment on it.
Bonne Vacanelles!
Bonne fin de semaine Pal

For those who might have been away for a while...
Où est la photo de Coco?!?!

AND, what is th secret?
Fabulous! Thank you for sharing!
OK, I can't get any of you to post a recent picture of he lovely Coco on this thread, so I will try to post an old one. My computer skills have deserted me, and if the shot turns up at all, it will have another one attached from Rome. Click the one on the right to make it larger, and you will see the stylish, sophisticated, Coco in the middle, between DW and myself.

http://picasaweb.google.com/nukesafe
hello everyone, I have been lurking on the Canada page as we leave in four weeks time but just flipped back to Europe to see what you are all up to! Loved the video Coco! Russell and I have just had a very nostalgic moment! And, we also have a lovely picture of the lovely Coco - was going to try and figure out how to show you all but seems nukesafe has done so! Well done!
Hi Vicky nice to read you

I'm glad you enjoyed the video, if you click on my screen name on Youtube, you'll see more...
Have a great trip to Canada, lucky you!
Take care.
Dick!
Coco,

I take it you are shocked that I "outed" you with that picture. You can't stay anonymous forever.
Soon tourist in the streets of Dijon will be stopping, staring, and pointing. "There; isn't that the FAMOUS COCO-OF-DIJON?!", they will shout. "Perhaps we can get her autograph, and she will take us on wonderful tours of pastry shops, markets, and Owl Trails!"
Now you can no longer hide from your adoring fellow Fodorites, girl.
Yikes, what's this old thing doing here again? I'm MUCH better looking now and my parlay-voo is perfect!
Where is Coco these days anyway? I haven't seen her posts in ages.
Coco, if you're reading this, I'm about to hang the five little cherubs and will send you a picture of how they look on my wall!
Thanks for topping this. We were in France for the entire duration of this thread - so I missed it. Good to see Ira, wife, & Dijon again.
We're spending a week in the Jura next July - perhaps a GTG???
Stu Dudley
Coco Cherie:
Ou es-tu? Cachant? Pourquoi?
Bonjour Pal and to all my friends

I'm not hidding nor drinking Beaujolais, just redecorating my living room with DH and it takes sooo much time and energy(plus my boys were on holidays until yesterday, plus I'm doing a garage sale on Sunday)
But I am still coming here everyday, as a good fodor addict, but there is nothing for me to help with (am I correct?)or maybe I missed something...
Stu I'm surprised you hadn't seen this video yet!
Hdm I hope you're fine and I'm looking forward to seeing your frame
Have a good week end
I'm just seeing the video for the first time, too, coco... thanks for posting the link
Everyone looks wonderful, and I wish we had seen some of the videographer. When you are finished redecorating, have your husband make a new tape with you in it. That way you can satisfy the endless Fodor's craving for decorating details AND the obvious desire to see YOU!
I absolutely LOVED this video! It was a treat and I walked the streets right along! Coco seems a wonderful hostess.

Quick question: what is the title of the background music?
Coco cheri
Viajero the background music is from Django Reinhardt (Smoke Rings+ Clouds+ Crazy Rhythm)
You do deserve it. I love the video and I love your site. When I next come to Paris, I will, at the very least, take a day trip to Dijon and perhaps we can share "un verre du vin" and I can meet you, Coco of Dijon...I am "Betsy2" of Thorntree, lonely planet.
I remember you Betsy, you wanted to work in Paris. Did you succeed?

I would be delighted to meet you and show you around.
PS I don't drink wine but a coffee will do.
grand creme? espresso? cafe au lait? cappuccino? or un cafe?
So glad this came ttt and I happened upon it...
thanks for sharing with us...
gruezi
Pal it is very bad to add milk to coffee. My stomach doesn't like it (even if I love capuccino). Espresso for me!
Thanks for posting the video - it is fun to put a face with a name. I studied in Dijon many moons ago, and it was a treat to "revisit" this lovely town with you.
a bientot, cherie
Bun vak ah nel le Cocoa chiree
Oh come on Pal I was wandering what language you were using! it is not vacanelles but vacancelles like in vacances.
As a French woman I put sugar in my coffee and like it sweet (I have a sweet tooth)but most of my girlfriends don't, it is not typically French...
Coco,
You are not 'typical' in any way! You're one of a kind!
Bonsoir Harriet, ça va bien?
I'm still waiting to admire your frame!
One day soon, Coco...one day soon!
what kind of 'frame' does hdm have? wide bodied? slim bodied?
:'(
(and Ira too of course!)
Have you noticed that more than 1600 people saw you on the video? You're famous now!
Oh, I'm a sylph, Pal. In my dreams.
I wish my antique computer could get this video to work - i guess i've have to go to the library and see it all
Have not been to Mustard town in a while and am planning a day trip there this winter i hope and the video will whet my appetite
Actually i was in Dijon last Sept 31st but, well we won't go into that fiasco
And Coco and her homeindijon are IMO places to go way out of your way to reach as such hospitality and depth of experience beneath the tourist veneer is priceless. Have not been there but i've read all the great reviews - not a negative word from anyone. (though i'm still looking for dirt on Coco!)
Well, Pal, every time I now ask my SO if he'd be willing to rent an apartment somewhere rather than stay in a hotel, his response is always "Is it as nice as Coco's?" Myhomeindijon is now the Gold Standard in our house!
Coco et al

What fun seeing the video of Ira and the wonderful Dijon flat. Those of us who have had the pleasure of staying in "the" flat and falling in love with Dijon will find it harder to return now that this video has been posted. The flat will be over booked.
Coco.....it's been too long since I've been able to chit chat with you.
I just celebrated my big six-0 birthday...with a bottle of Burgandy that I purchased during my stay in 2005. It brought back just wonderful memories of my Wayfarers walk and my stay in Dijon with Coco.
Cheers to all,
Isadore
Bonjour Isadore,
I didn't forget your birthday but I was sure you would take your day off and since you still don't have your own email address, you'll read my ecard next Monday.
Did you do a trip report about your trip to Ireland? I'd love to see pictures.
Yesterday I talked about you and the lavender spray to JudyC when we passed by the old pharmacy near the market hall.
<Oh come on Pal I was wandering what language you were using! it is not vacanelles but vacancelles like in vacances.>
Coco -now you tell me after i've been using vacanelles for so long - you know some folks will think i am not fluent like a native frog (!) by using vacanelles rather than the correct vacancelles - you've been exposing my fraud French i guess
bonne prochaine vacancelles!
Sorry pal I didn't pay attention first and then I thought you would do as you please as usual. But the first time you wrote it right!
>bonne prochaine vacancelles> we're only Monday!! and if you want to write it as it should be, you have to add an "s" to bonne and prochaine (adjectifs).
Isadore is starting to work now in New York, she's just opened my ecard, have a nice day all of you!
Prof Coco:
Brava, Coco!
This was so much fun to watch. Oh well, the holidays will be over before too long and I will start planning for a Spring visit.
Well you know I don't drink but if you want to exercise your French while learning what it has been said about Beaujolais, here you go!
(but don't drink and drive)
merci
que je peux parler
que je peut parler
not ready for the BAC i guess
You had it right on your first correction

"je peut lire beaucoup plus bien que je parlerait" Je peux lire beaucoup mieux (never ever plus bien) que je peux parler.
Moi aussi!
I have been staying at Coco's flat since last Saturday, it is most comfortable, as mentioned by everyone; and Coco is as charming and warm as I had pictured from the Forum.
JudyC - i've been searching for any dirt on Coco for a longtime - will pay handsomely - even dust.
keep your eyes open.
thanks
Judy is in Paris right now, too late Pal
It was such a treat to see and hear from 3 Fodorites who have long been treasures on this board. Thank you all so very much!
BC
Looking for dirt on Coco? I'll give you some. She is "Pathologically Nice"!

Must drive New Yorkers up the wall!

)
Le français va disparaitre? N'importe quoi!
Coco: I just saw your video of Ira and his wife. You are great !! What a nice video. Now I can put a face on Ira. Wish we were there.
Coco:

Dearest Coco ~ Adored the music you set this video to.

Hi Ira, nice to see you and your Lady Wife. She has a beautiful laugh, you are a lucky man.
Bonjour Tiff!
Although Ira's Lady Wife is very nice, she is not the one you mentioned. Hdm was the one you heard laughing at the beginning. She was in black and white and loved pastries! miam miam!
If I was not so lazy, I would make another video on Christmas markets taking place now...
Season greetings.
PQ
Poor you!
What you can do is go to the main page http://fr.youtube.com/ and write "cocoj2" in the search function. Voila!
Oui
Mes salutations, madame
Lol! I doubt it was written that way and I'm not X-rated!
What do you think of this one then?

Coco,

What a wonderful article! And it brought back so many good memories of our visit to Dijon.
Pal's post worries me. I can't translate it too well but to see the words 'X-rated' associate with our little video is quite concerning! I know we had a lot of fun that day but, oh my goodness, is there something I've forgotten?!
Hi Harriet, I was sure you would worry about the x-rating but Pal said it was associated with my screen name on youtube

He says he can't watch my videos but I'm sure he's joking
I'm very happy with that article, and Deena and Peter found me on fodors
There are 2 more articles about their bicycle trips in Burgundy:

oh dear.
oh Pal!
I'm not sure it was Beaujolais, was it?
Wonderful articles. I would love to come back to Dijon now, rain or shine or snow. Just hanging out in the flat and going out to eat, are good enough for me. I don't know about Tom though.

Hi Pal!
Good to "see" you!
meerci beaucoup starrs merci bien
Bonjour Pal, When were you in Dijon? And you didn't contact me?
Hi Coco cherie:
Yes i was in Dijon though i remember nothing of it - i was there probably 15 minutes or so as i slumbered in a couchette on the Venice-Paris night train. So was there about 5:30am - as i was sleeping it was the Dijon of my dreams literally
I wrote the above at Geno's house (mother of sylvain) in Orleans and was going to say it was a joke of sorts the next day but she could not get her Yahoo or Wanadoo to come on so i had to wait till i got back
I was thinking of day tripping to Dijon from Paris but i went to Nancy instead because i wanted to ride the new TGV-Est trains
Next February i will day trip to Dijon and hope to rendez-vous with you bien sur!
Weather in Paris was surprisingly sunny and fairly warm first week of Feb - hope you've had a nice winter too though Leo and Axel may love it to snow.
Salut and toodle loo (toute a l'heure)!
Bonjour Pal I haven't been around for a while. No snow this year in Dijon but winter is not over yet...

What a shame you couldn't spend more time in Dijon, 15min are a bit short.
I was in Paris yesterday with susanna who is staying there for a week and the weather was just great!
Coco cherie:
Pas de neige - dommage pour les enfants
I had great weather in Paris as well - almost spring like. I stayed a week in Feb in London and it was sunny and about 60 degrees everyday - really like spring!
now since i returned to the ice box here it has not been above freezing for days and the highs several days about 15-20 degrees F. Winter sucks. Give me Dijonnaise weather any day.
Best regards. PalQ
Topping hopes that Ira and/or Coco may drop in and give me a little advice as I've not had enough time to do my usual planning.
I'm going to have a few hours next Sunday and then again the following Saturday in Dijon. I'll be enroute from Zürich to Cluny.
Remember the wonderful video of my favorite foodie Ira and company.
Would love advice for: 1. place to buy foods items to bring back to US as gifts and 2. place to have a good lunch in charming atmosphere. I'm alone so have a nice budget...
I'll have a big suitcase which I hope I can leave in the train station. Yes?
Thanks for any advice/recommendations.
Remembered this thread from 4 years ago and cannot believe it has been that long ago!!!
What wonderful memories. I was staying at Coco's when this video was posted. I somehow mistook hdm to be annhig so whenever Ann posts I always picture hdm. It was actually 7 years' ago. The market is wonderful. Took home (Coco's) many great meals from there.
Gruezi, in case you haven't seen this, here's a TR from friends who just stayed at Coco's. It's a lovely report and will give you some great ideas.
http://www.fodors.com/community/europe/live-from-dijon.cfm
Thanks Louisa! I will read that TR. Heading to Dijon this morning.
Sorry I'm too late to help, G.

Enjoy your visit.

lol. and i've never even been to Dijon.
I'm late too! Hope you enjoyed your visit, at least the weather was not bad but it was rather quiet I suppose.
Hi Ira and Micheline, sweet memories, and I hope everybody is well. Annhig I'm waiting for you!
Hi coco and Ira. I was not able to spend time in Dijon today because there was no place to stow my luggage. I'm hopeful to be back on Saturday on my way back to Zurich. Still not sure what to do with my bag. No weekend luggage stowage until April 1st. I'm thinking of seeing if I can pay a hotel to keep it for a few hours. Have a lot of hiking things so it is somewhat too heavy to pull around all day.

Disappointed.
gruezi - that's a shame.
still, i hope you have fun in/around Zurich.
