Intrepid family looking Rome apartment over Christmas holidays - suggestions?

Hello - our family of 4 is looking for suggestions for a 2 bedroom apartment. We will need one bedroom with a full sized or larger bed and another bedroom with twin beds. I won't ask my two adult sons to share a bed or have one of them sleep on a futon/sleeper sofa/cot. I've been searching vrbo, homeaway, etc and would just like a recommendation or several from Fodorites who've been there/stayed there/liked it. Location needs to be central - Trastavere, Spanish Steps, Navona, Trevi, etc - don't really want to be near St Peters. Arrive around 12/20 and depart on or about 1/2. Budget of up to 225e/night. Clean, safe, comfortable. Nothing luxurious necessary for this trip.

Thanks!!

We stayed here in 2007 and loved it...double bedroom with bath, second bedroom with 3 twin beds and a separate 2nd bathroom with shower. Great location! http://www.romepower.com/eng/rome-mo.../Moon_136.html

We stayed here: http://www.sleepinitaly.com/rome/cam...ent-balestrari. It has two bedrooms and is exactly as pictured on the website. It is available for your nights for 2032 euros for the 13 nights. It is just off Campo dei Fiori. Great location. Open market right by. We would definitely stay here again.

We're doing the same thing! Two boys 16&18, staying in pantheon area. Found ours through Domas, who has very good reviews. They have lots that fit your description. FYI, NY eve is celebrated (lots of crowds but fun!) at Piazza Navona. Fireworks, etc. My husband and I may observe from the terrace and let the boys go on their own. Too much for me!!

We spent New Years just off campo dei fiori and loved the location... Great little bars on the square for morning coffee....

We used vrbo.

Btw, make reservations if you want to eat out New Year's Eve.

We stayed here last May and have booked for our 2014 trip as well. It is a little larger than what you requested, being a 3 bedroom, but the location cannot be beat. Steps from the Pantheon. It has a washing machine which was great, and the owners will set you up with basic groceries if you send a list in advance (you reimburse them upon check-in). It is well worn, but again, the location and spaciousness cannot be overrated,

Rental in Rome have an extensive book - we found them good to deal with - also arranged pick-up from Termini and drop-off at airport
