Internet access on Romantic Road

I am an online instructor and need Internet access while in Germany, Frankfurt to Fussen, for a week. Are Internet cafes or wired hotels/pension/inns easy to get? I go to the different accommodation websites and not many has Internet unless you check in to the very expensive hotels. I don't need it everyday, but maybe 2-3 times that week for 15 minutes or so in case my students have questions. Thanks!

Virtually every private home has DSL or at least dial-up and you'll find many open WLAN networks. However if you want to access the internet EVERYWHERE you'll need a mobile phone, PDA and a SIM card. www.aldi.de sell "Aldi Talk" SIMs that work with GSM (GPRS) nand UMTS. Prepaid card costs 15€ (10€ call/surfing credit) Megabyte is 24ct.

No, don't need access everywhere. Some somewhere sometimes so that I can still be available for my students.

This is good information and I'm willing to pay a little extra to use the Internet if it's not included in the room fee.

Most every city or town will have an internet cafe. I know Rothenburg did last time I was there. Even if the hotel you stay at doesn't have a computer in the lobby, those which do will allow you access for probably the same fee as their customers.

Internet cafes or internet service can be found fairly easy in the larger towns. I'm always on the lookout for a connection and since I don't carry a laptop I normally end up at the Tourist Information offices inquiring about the internet possibilities in the area. I recommend you do the same. If you don't mind browsing these trip report pages you will find the Internet cafes in Rothenburg o.d.T. and Füssen. Good luck... Ben
