Hi all - does anyone know of an interesting town that would be a good point to break up a trip between Gdansk and Krakow? Maybe a place that would be worthy of a 1 night stay? Thanks!

Wroclaw, Poznan, Lodz? Depends also upon what's easily accessible by train.
Not having seen any other part of your posts, are you already visiting Warsaw? The Old Town is lovely with great alfresco dining in its square and is on the train route between the two.
yes, we are already visiting warsaw; we are flying into krakow and then going to gdansk and then to warsaw.
maybe malbork? the castle is supposed to be the biggest brick castle in the world.
Torun ... be a very nice stop over between 2 ...

if you are driving I recommand going thru Katowice and Lodz (Route #1)Wloclawek (which can be bit slow)and then Torun - between Wloclawek and Torun (1/2 way between 2 cities) there is a quick right turn to Ciechocinek which is a nice small spa city (with cheaper very cheap hotels and B&Bs ...)

You also may want to go thru Warsaw and then from Warsaw pickup quicker route #7 (less trucks) then in Plonsk change for Route #10 thru lipno to Torun and then again Route #1 to Gdansk ...
