Inspiring quotations about travel?

I'll start:

"Travel, in the younger sort, is a part of education; in the elder, a part of experience. He that travelleth into a country before he hath some entrance into the language, goeth to school, and not to travel."
- Francis Bacon

The next one isn't directly about travel, but to me the answer to the question posed in the quotation is, of course, I plan to TRAVEL!

"Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?"
-Mary Oliver

Mark Twain:

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the things you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."

.."You can't get there from here". I think this old quote is now pertanent as I think it can be applied to the Hub and spoke system of today's airline travel!

"The unexamined life is not worth living." Socrates

This is on the wall of my library. I have adopted this as my personal motto, and believe that travel is an important part of examining one's life in different frames of reference.

"The world is a book, and those who do not travel, read only one page..."
- St. Augustine

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness."
- Mark Twain

"I may not have much of a future... but I've got one hell of a past."
- Anon.

"Travel exposes you to ideas, lifestyles, theologies, and philosophies that challenge your most cherished beliefs. It takes you out of a setting where everyone thinks the same, and sends you into the unknown, to your political and religious opposites, your "adversaries". You rethink your assumptions; your horizons expand; your life takes on new dimensions. And however immodest it may sound, I'm better because my travel has made me confront my opposites..." - Arthur Frommer

...And may I add to the end of the last quote, "...and learn from them".

The true traveler is he who goes on foot, and even then, he sits down a lot of the time.
