initaly vs tuscanynet
i wanted to book accomodations in tuscany and got price from initaly. for same property tuscanynet was much cheaper. turns out tuscanynet deals directly with owners and initaly is go-between so need a cut. I don't understand why would anyone deal with initaly when you can get such a good deal with tuscany net for some of the same properties?

I'm in the middle of booking a trip with Initaly...does anyone know anything about this tuscanynet company and if they're reputable? I've looked on their website and they do seem cheaper than Initaly for some of the places. How do they do this? Has anyone booked thru tuscanynet - if so, please provide feedback as I haven't paid anything to initaly yet.

Your observations are correct. Initaly does indeed cost more (I am not affiliated at all, just use "initaly" because I am indeed "in italy"; maybe I should stop using this moniker).

Anyway, Initaly, IMHO, has really gone downhill lately and is way out of date. I do use them to check hotel web sites, but even that has proven unreliable. I have never used them to book a hotel, and I don't plan to. A good one is agriturismo.net, which I have used very satisfactorily. Recently discovered Travelnow, which I also like.

Good luck.
I emailed the hotels directly about rooms, rates, etc. They all responded very quickly. To confirm a reservation you can call or fax (i personally would not send credit card info through email) you rcredit card info. I honestly don't know how the prices compare to these on-line services but i feel better dealing directly with the hotels.
