Inexpensive flights to Italy?

Approximately, what is the airfare to Italy in late April/beginning of May?
What is the best place to get inexpensive tickets to Venice? Would you suggest flying to Milan and then taking the train?
Thanks

Oh. That's very different. Do they have more than one airport in California?

Wasn't there just a post here about a fare of $868? That was serious!

I recently did a search of airfares from London to Venice. They're very cheap so..if you can find a good fare from CA to London then London to Vce try it. An airline called Volare which I've never heard of came up as the cheapest.

On orbitz.com right now, there is a fare of only $537 (plus $5 service fee) for LAX to CDG via SFO. In their usual incomprehensible style, the fare is slightly higher if you originate in SFO.

This is a phenomenally good price. And in addition to Air Lib (which might not be in business before long), ryanair.com has anounced new service for Paris (Beauvais) to Milan (Bergamo), for a song. The train from Bergamo to Venice will take about 2 hours.

This fare is unlikely to get better, and in fact I think that is $300 cheaper than anything you will find directly into Italy. If you are at all sure of your plans, I would grab it soon.

Best wishes,

Rex

Try European Travel in LA
213-624-4881 x14 ask for Chris.

I booked two trips to Europe in May/June last two years

LA-Vienna
Rome-LA
In May 2001 was $660 on AirFrance

LA-Rome
Frankfurt-LA

In June 2001 was $820 on Lufthansa

Both prices were much better than any I could get on my own.

Also, from LA fly direct into either London/Paris/Frankfurt and then to Venice. Only two flights. No point taking two flights to Milan and then the train to Venice (3 hrs).

The way that airlines are pricing tickets now is changing molto troppo rapido for prices from 2001 to be very useful in predicting prices for 2003.

We just flew round trip to Venice from London for 109GBP with Volare, and they were absolutely fine. the planes both ways were newish Airbuses. Volare is part of/linked with Air Europe, who do mainly charters. They also have a codeshare with Alitalia, so even if you book with Alitalia you may fly Volare.

Try expedia.com - they had some good Virgin fares from California to London recently, and if you link that with the Volare one you could have a good deal.

Cited this earlier this afternoon, on another thread. These unusually low fares LAX-PAR are available (at least) as late as May 20 - - in case anyone could use them.

I got a great fare for April 2003 (during Easter) on Orbitz from LAX to Rome for $606. I couldn't believe it, considering i'll be there for Easter. I got it in September, after diligently searching day and night. What an exhausting search, but well worth it. The $537 fare that Rex mentions sounds great! Rex and Fodors were great help to me! If you find a deal, don't let it go. Good Luck!!!
