We have 5 full days in Tuscany (Montalcino/Montepulciano area). I was reading on Livorno, and the region.
Is it worth a day trip to the coast? What about driving down the coast to Rome? Is there any particular little town that is really worth making a visit to?

We prefer romance and quiet, wineries and good food, a little shopping. We're not into big resorts with lots of people... really prefer authentic family run places rather than huge fancy restaraunts. I hope you have some advice! Thanks!

We drove down the coast a bit when we were there in March. Didn't see anything that would make me want to go back.

Thank you. I forgot to mention that later in the trip we will be on the Amalfi Coast, so maybe this will be enough Sea for us. Thanks!

Your trip sounds like mine. We spent 3 days in Cinque Terre, 5 days in Tuscany, and 4 days in Ravello on Amalfi Coast. I would not try to get to the coast from Tuscany. So much to see write near where you are. Go to Pienza for sure as its close to Montalcino. The other place that is pretty close to you is the S'Antimo Abbey south of Montalcino. The monks come out several times a day for Gregorian chanting. You can get details about it on the slowtrav. website. The drive is gorgeous as well.

The AC will give you your coast "fix" so I would stay in Tuscany and enjoy every minute.
