Il borghetto di San gimignano

Has anyone one stayed here? It looks very nice but I'm having a hard time finding reviews that seem believable. Are they are too good to be true? All the ones I've read on TA seem to be from one time only posters which always make me a little nervous.

Thanks for any help you can give.

I had checked slowtrav and there were no direct reviews, but this time I saw a link to an ad from tuscany.net and that had lots of reviews so that helps. Thanks for making me take another look.

Thank you Steve, I'm sorry it took so long to get back to you,I've been busy trying to plan other parts of our trip. I have booked Il Borghetto, it looks really nice. I love boar sauce, my mouth is watering. Can't wait to start our trip.

I would love to hear about your stay at Il Borhetto! It's been a few years! I just did a quick search, as I found the place, among many, and inquired about availabilities for next summer. They responded so quickly and were to hospitable.

I am really burned out trying to research villas/farmhouses, etc. in the Tuscany region. I think my eyes may blow up with all the internet use! I think I've read that San
Gimignano is a good location for day trips. The region is so big, and trying to find the "perfect" Italian villa experience for me and my family of five (husband and three teen/young adult boys)

I would appreciate any information you could give me on this place. thanks so much. Karen

Karen - If you click on a person's screen name, you can see when they last posted (descant doesn't seem to have posted since 2009).

Karen,

Il Borghetto also lists on Booking.com, where no one is allowed to post a review unless they actually booked using Booking.com, and their stay was confirmed by the property. So their user reviews are never fakes

San Gimignano is a popular base for people with active families, and you can visit Volterra and Pisa easily from there, and even the Chianti is not too far, as well as do some biking and horseriding.

I'm sorry -- I should have Siena is easy to reach to a day trip, not Pisa, although if you are picking up or dropping off a car, Pisa is often the easiest place to do it if San Gimignano is your base, so that creates an opportunity to sightsee in Pisa as part of the trip.

Thank you, Stevewith. So, if we dropped our car off in Pisa, would it be possible, then, to take train to Cinque Terre to stay a couple of nights and then on to Venice? I suppose I need to check out the train routes.

Yes, you can catch a train from Pisa to CT. You could also drop your car in La Spezia. If you drop in Pisa, you might want to drop at the airport to avoid ZTL. The airport train station is 5 minutes (by train) from Pisa Centrale train station. At Centrale, you can store your luggage if you want to go visit the tower (shuttle buses to the tower area).
