If you had a do-over @ Hampton Court Palace..
I've read so many TRs re HCP - (kitchens are not to be missed!! etc)
but what mistakes or miscalculations did you perhaps make? We all know vacation time is precious and I don't want to mess up. I'd like to learn from others' history if I may.
Thank You!

I don't understand at all what you mean. What would constitute a mess-up for you? Going there on Boxing Day only to find it closed?
Just read up on what there is to see there, and decide which things would most appeal to you. Then pick up a little map of the lay out when you get there and plan your route. There are lots of signs, and if you get lost, ask someone.

I have been there a few times and still have not had a proper look around the extensive gardens. There is so much to see there that we go through all the buildings/rooms and get exhausted before we really see all the outside areas.

It's kinda foolproof. You get on the train to Hampton Court, take the tour and walk around the grounds. I knew the History of the palace and was looking for Ann Boleyn's initials, which I knew where there. After looking and still being unable to locate them I asked a docent and sure enough he pulled back a curtain and showed me the initials. That made the whole trip worth it for me. We also loved the horse drawn carriage that takes you on a little ride (good rest for the feet!).

I now have to agree with those who thought my question nonsensical. Reading TRs, I had the idea it was a very complicated, at minimum 1/2 day excursion. We visited on a cold and blustery day so gave the gardens a miss, and rather raced thru the different tour routes. Done by noon actually.
Thank You for answering me with good humour.
