If you could go to ONE restaurant in Venice, Florence, Rome OR the Amalfi Coast???

We are going to be in Italy for two weeks in June. I LOVE really good food, but am on a tight budget.
What is the best place for our splurge meal? (ok, it may be two splurge meals) We will be in Venice, Florence, Rome and Amalfi.

Thanks in advance Fodorites!

Also, I like simple, perfectly done meals reflecting the staples of whichever country's cuisine I am eating, rather than overly complicated, showy dishes.

Sylvie - La Tagliata (- Montepertuso, nr. Positano)

Oh - and the views aren't bad either ...

I agree with Steve regarding La Tagliata, high up in Montepertuso above Positano.
Also, very close and maybe a bit more wondrful is Il Ritrovo ~ both of which provide a car ride up to and down from the mountain - picking you up/dropping you off right at your hotel in Positano.

In Florence, La Buca d'Orafalo (sp?). It's in an alley near the Ponte Vecchio.

Hi S,

How much are you planning to spend on your splurge dinner(s)?

Ira, there is no budget for the splurge dinners. Thanks so much for the suggestions so far, La Tagliata looks great.

Hi S,

>....there is no budget for the splurge dinners.<

Then I suggest Rossellinis, a 2* restaurant at the Palazzo Sasso in Ravello.
