If US Airways goes under...
Hello! I have FF miles on US Air, and my fiance and I were planning to use them for one ticket to our honeymoon to Italy in June (yikes!)
Just a question...if we book through US Air on a partner, such as Lufthansa, and US Air goes under, will the ticket still be honored if it was purchased with US Air FF miles?
We haven't booked yet- had been hoping to find a sale that would get us on the same flight (wishful thinking, I know!) But maybe we should go ahead and book on a partner? Or just give up on the idea altogether?
Any advice about this situation would be much appreciated...thank you!!

I just booked tickets with UA for Portugal in the Spring.
I called the US Airways Dividend Miles number and explained that I wanted to book award miles but with another carrier. I am a US Airways ff member.
My tickets are with UA and Lufthansa.
Hopefully they are around in the Spring. I recieved paper tickets.

There is an excellent article in the Washington Post today 13 September about what the situation really means. It all depends...the airline could be out of business in three to six months and analysts are NOT hoeful for the company's future survival.
I just booked two FF award tickets on United (USAirways FF miles) transatlantic for next July-August timeframe and got e-tickets. Seats on partner airlines should be secure since any "compensation" from USAirways has already gone over for the seats.
I agree..I would book awards on partner airlines and not on USAirways. And I'd use those FF miles up NOW if I could..which is why I did it.

Just had another thought..those tickets you have constitute a contract of sorts between you and the airline. The airline is bound to provide you the services outlined in the ticket...subjetc to restrictions, of course...but I somehow doubt the fact that USAirways might cease to exist could be used as a "restriction" or "reason" for not honoring the ticket.
If the partner were THAT worried about USAirways viability they had no business even allowing seats to be available for USAirways' FF miles.
