If Ima plannimng to go to Paris for a week but I would love to spend at least 1 day in London..Do you guys think is a good idea if I take the train and come back the same day? Should I stay there over nite?
how mamy hours is the ride? or too much stress?

Have you booked your airfare yet? If not, some airlines that are making a stop in London en route to Paris will allow you to have a layover on one end of your trip. When we fly British Airways to Paris we stop in London for a few days on the way home with no extra airfare charges.

I have no experience with the train to Paris but it sounds like a very rushed experience for only a day. Hopefully, you'll hear from others with experience on this part.

Sure. Makes for a long day, but plenty of people have done it. Leave early, come back late. Leave from St Pancras (Bloomsbury area) arrive at Gare du Nord. Take Metro from Gare du Nord to....Louvre area and start there. We can help plan a day.

The ride is 2 hours but you gain/lose an hour in London. I have visited London once or twice a year for the last 40 or so years and never run out of things to do and places to see. If you just want a quick look, go for it, but make your train reservations soon as the prices go up the longer you wait.
With only a week in Paris I doubt whether I'd try to fit London in!!

Ooops. OK, flip those stations

You could get an Open Jaw flight. Fly into Paris, one way Eurostar, fly home from London. I'm planning the opposite for the end of May.

From Mloomsbury you could walk to Covent Garden, then Trafalgar Sq, Westminster,etc.. A full day.

Travel_Britain

Take an early morning Eurostar - it's fast and comfortable and arrives at St Pancras International Station which is a very accessible place to see London central from. Here's the Itinerary I would take:

- Take the 7.13 Eurostar Paris (Gare Du Nord) to London (St Pancras Intl) arriving at 8.28 am
- Take the Victoria line to Tate Britain Gallery (nearest stop Pimlico) free entry to all Tate Galleries. Take about 1 hour here.
- Then walk following this route (http://travelbritainonabudget.com/20...art-walk-no-1/) this will take you past Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, The Thames, The London Eye, The Royal Festival Hall, Jubilee Gardens, The Bankside Gallery and The Tate Modern.
- Stop off somewhere for lunch, then continue onto the Tate Modern
- If you walk about 100 metres further there is Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, and a little further Burough Market, which is always worth a visit. And across the Millenium bridge is St Paul's Cathedral.
- Head towards the St Pauls Tube station or the London Bridge Station, take the tube back to Kings Cross/St Pancras Intl.
- Then catch the Eurostar back to Paris.

Or alternatively you can choose to fly into Paris, take your trip around Paris, then fly out of London. If you fly out of London maybe two days one night in London would be better than one day trip.
