Ideas where to stay in Venice ( or near Venice)

Jump to last reply

Hi I am starting this thread to get some additional ideas on areas where to stay in Venice.

My personal favorite is Dorsoduro http://www.traveltovenezia.com/dorsoduro-venice-district-dorsoduro-sestiere/ but I would also like to hear some other idea from people who stayed for example in Lido.

Is it realistic to get quickly from Lido to Venice?

Once I stayed in one small city on mainland ( Dolo next to Mira). This was quite a discovery and I have to say much better option than staing in Mestre wich is basically industrial suburb. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolo

Dolo is a small city village from where you can go to Venice but is much cheaper than staying in Venice and more beatiful than Mestre.
