We are planning a trip to Iceland between Christmas and New Years. We will be taking our 9 year old grand-daughter with us.
Any ideas as to where in Reykjeavik to stay or things to do for a 5 or 6 day trip would be appreciated.

hit the open-air swimming pools - no joke as the water comes nice and warm right out of the ground - totall darkness and a mist to expect - why would one want to spend a vacation there at that time? The country's greatest attraction IME is its natural features - hot pools, geysers, dramatic coastlines, volcanoes, etc - but with near total or at least total darkness then what will you be able to see? This long dark winters are one reason give by socialologists to explain Scandinavia's serious drinking problems - not sure bout that but am sure that this is also one of the world's most expensive countries.
oh well perhaps you will see the Northern Lights and that could be a reason for coming here at that time?
