Iceland in March
Hi All,
We are traveling to Reykjavik at the end of March and I'm overwhelmed trying to plan an itinerary. We are staying in Reykjavik for four nights and need advice on making the most of our trip.
The Blue Lagoon is a must. Please offer any suggestions for our time in Iceland.
We fly in late day on March 23 and out mid day on March 27.

i reccomend going to the blue lagoon on the way to the airport when you are returning home. the lagoon is very close to the airport, there are shuttles, and you can hold luggage. and i'm not sure how long your flight is but i can think of nothing better than being fully relaxed and cleaned in the spa for the flight back!
i also reccomend:
lunch at laundromat
breakfast at gaia
and there was a very good indian restaurant in rekyavik as well.

I was thinking the same thing about Blue Lagoon - what a great way to relax before a long flight back to CO.

With four nights, you can definitely do a full daytrip for the Golden Circle area, which is very accessible from Reykjavik.
I'm heading to Uceland in March as well, but I have 10 nights, so I'm focusing on the north for three, two for a whirlwind take on the southeast to Jokarulson and Vik and the waterfalls along the way, probably one night on the Snaefellsnes, and the rest in Reykjavik for Golden Circle and Blue Lagoon.

Gibb girl...we tried to see the lights in November 2011 but they didn't show.
For the lagoon, if budget allows, they have private "suites" where there is much more privacy, small, but full bathroom and supply's, (robes, slippers, hairdryer, etc...) and access to a practice entrance to the lagoon with refreshments...

End of March is not the ideal time to see Northern Lights, so I would avoid the "guided tours" if I were you as I fear they will be a waste of money.
You have 3 whole days in Iceland. would allow a day in Reykjavik, A day doing the Golden Circle and then either a day driving around the Snæfellsness peninsula or a day trip to The Westman Islands. Both options would be long days and you would need to check the weather conditions but it will be well worth it as the scenery is fantastic.
If the Blue Lagoon trip on the way to or from the airport is not feasible then I would use your day in Reykjavik to go there..that would leave you half a day to explore Reylkavik which to be honest is enough - it´s not the biggest of places.
