Iceland for New Years?

Jump to last reply

Most of the info I've seen on Iceland is about visiting in summer but my wife and I and some friends are contemplating a 5 day trip around New Years this year. We all ski so we could spend time at a ski resort and of course hot springs and northern lights are a draw as well.

We are wondering if we are crazy to contemplate this trip. Are tourist facilities open in the winter? Is there enough daylight to see anything of the island at that time of year? Has anyone had experience visiting in winter?

Thanks in advance for any info,

John
