Iceland and Hofn - Jokulsarlon Lagoon

I was hoping to try and take a day trip in Iceland from Reykjavík to Hofn-Jokulsarlon Lagoon. Was wondering if anyone has previously done this day excursion from Reykjavik, and if so, if you could provide details/advice of how best to do this. In addition, if you went with a tour group, details would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
