Iceland -- how to get to Videy Island?

We're headed to Iceland for a few days in October (doing the free stopover promo with Icelandair). I was thinking of visiting Videy Island, but I haven't been able to find any in-depth info. Hoping an Iceland expert might be able to help!

1) Is it worth going? What is there to do/see on the island?
2) How would I get there by bus? It appears that the ferries stop running in September.
3) How late in the day do the buses run?
4) Has anyone rented a bike on the island?

Any info would be much appreciated. THANKS!!
