I think I made a mistake on my train ticket from Paris to Bruges

I just reserved 2 tickets to Bruges (direct) from Paris Nord, which I stupidly assumed was the Gare du Nord. The price was 58 euros, which I should have known was too good to be true. Also, I was planning to go through Lille, so I should have realized something wasn't right. I was on the French site because I couldn't get my computer to redirect me to the tgv-europe.com site (although I might have made the same stupid mistake even if reading English). Can anyone tell me if this (getting to Paris Nord etc.) is going to make my life a misery or if I should just accept the loss of money and start again.

I believe Paris Nord and Gare du Nord ARE the same station. What makes you think otherwise?

I think what got me worried is that this reservation is on a Thalys train and goes direct from Paris to Bruges mid morning on a Sunday. I hadn't realized there was a direct train at all because most of the recommendations on this site say to go through Lille. I am much reassured to know that Paris Nord is the same as the Gare du Nord. Is it easy to get to the Gare du Nord from the St. Michael metro station, which is near where we'll be staying.

Far as I can tell, you don't have a problem. Paris Nord is simply shorthand for Gare du Nord.

There are some direct trains from Paris Nord (Gare du Nord) to Bruges -- not many, but they are brilliant.

The alternate name goes for all of the train stations in Paris.

Paris Est = Gare de l'Est
Paris Montparnasse = Gare Montparnasse
Paris Lyon = Gare de Lyon
Paris Austerlitz = Gare d'Austerlitz
Paris Saint Lazare = Gare Saint Lazare

From St Michel metro, take Line 4 in the direction of Porte de Clignancourt, 8 stops I think

Or you can just take the RER B from Saint Michel-Notre Dame to Paris Nord with just one stop and get there 4 times faster -- with exactly the same ticket.
