I need a good laptop backpack for Rome. Any suggestions?

Hi, I am soon to be spending four months studying in Rome, and I need a backpack to carry my laptop from my apartment to my studio every day during my stay there. I want something that no pickpocket could take advantage of. Also, my laptop is a 17" mac, so the backpack would need to be large enough to carry it. Does anyone have any suggestions as do a "pickpocket-safe" backpack? Thanks!

one that does not look like a laptop backpack. Look for one with inner pockets close to your back

Not a specific answer, but many Europeans wear their backpacks in front. Just thought I would mention that possibility for this case.

gfeibleman- Do you know of any specific backpack "with inner pockets close to your back"? I have heard of this kind of backpack, but have had no luck in locating any actual packs of that description. If you or anyone else reading this knows of a brand that makes this kind of pack, that would be luvly. Thanks!

Have you checked ebags.com? I bought my laptop backback there last fall and was well pleased with both the bag and the general service from the company. I checked to see if my backpack is still available there, but it's no longer shown. However, here's one that looks pretty good to me, especially the low weight (2.44 lbs.) for traveling:

Check out the user reviews, which are quite helpful.

Do you have a luggage store you can visit in person? For this kind of thing, I really like to see it and handle it rather than purchase on the web.

Check out www.ebags.com. My son will be studying abroad in Perguia in sept. and he also needed a bag for his 17" laptop. He found a great one through them. He ordered it and received it the next day. It is a canvas bag with shoulder strap and is yellow and black.
Good Luck!
