I am officially freaking out about Alitalia - how will I get to my wedding?!?!?

Hey all,

My family and I are flying on various dates between Sept 8 - Sept 26 for my wedding/honeymoon in Italy... Alitalia is majorly on the rocks. I already subscribe to all the news feeds, so I get pretty regular information. I'm not sure if I am asking for advice or just need to vent to my fellow travellers. I can't really breathe right now LOL

I don't have any words of wisdom, but I am crossing my fingers for you that it all works out well.

regards Ger

Message: Hi Thonglori,

I feel your pain.

It's considered good luck when something goes wrong with the wedding plans.

My wife somehow found the "best" wedding dress store in San Francisco. We visited the store 3-4 times and she bought a dress. Two weeks before the wedding we drove up to San Francisco ( we live in Fresno) on a Friday as they had called to say the dress was ready.

We walked up to the front door(Saturday) and the sign said: "Gone out of business". Nothing else.

The story made the newspaper the next day (Sunday) and it told of hundreds of women who had lost their dresses and cash deposits.

It'll work out,

==Mike

mendota98, the moral of your sad story is "never put off until tommorrow what you can do today! Did they ever catch the lousy crooks?

Hi degas,

"Did they ever catch the lousy crooks?"

Not that I know of.

The whole ordeal forever changed my view of weddings.

Thonglori: good luck and best wishes!

==Mike

The restaurant that we were having our rehearsal dinner at went out of business two weeks before our dinner of 40. We read it in the newspaper! It all worked out!! Dont worry!!

If you are already freaking out and the airline hasn't even gone out of business I cannot imagine what you'll be like IF that event actually occurs.

The simple answer is you get yourself onto the phone, call another airline and make alternative reservations...it isn;t as if you won;t be able to get to Italy at all.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes.

I actually said to myself, "Well if its not on CNN yet maybe its not so bad." But lo and behold, there is a CNN story online right now LOL Ya gotta laugh at this point I guess...

We've got our fingers crossed and are arming ourselves with as much information as we can! Hope everyone else's trips go off without a hitch too...

Thonglori,
I've come to believe if you can weather the stress of planning a complicated wedding, you'll be in great shape for the challenges of married life. Good luck to you - I'm sure all will be well.

I certainly hope it works out for you (both for your sake and mine--I'm due to leave for Rome on Sept. 17 on Alitalia--a trip I've been planning since January).
Good luck to us all!

I haven't been following the news in the last few weeks, but I had a lot of Alitalia flights recently while in Europe. I didn't have a problem with any of them. I don't think the Italian government will let them go out of business if that is your concern. I know your wedding will be beautiful. My daughter, jet girl, had a lovely wedding in Positano in June.
