Hungary, Romania or Both?

It has been a while since I first posted here on Fodors and we need some advice.

My husband and I are travelling to eastern Europe this July for two weeks and we will be visiting Hungary, Romania or both if there is the time. We have heard so many great things about both Bucharest and Budapest, the Transylvania region of Romania, as well as the countrysides and smaller towns in both countries. We would also like to spend a few days on the Black Sea, so we are leaning towards Romania.

Would it be possible to see some of Hungary and spend more time in Romania (we could add a few more days to our trip)?

Your help would be most welcome. Thank you.

You do not give enough information for us to give you considered advice. How do you plan to travel (public transportation, car)? Which towns and areas of Transylvania do you plan to visit? Where are you arriving from overseas, and where do you plan to depart for home? We did a three week tour of the Carpathians, starting and ending the trip in Budapest, but it excluded Bucharest and the Black Sea area. This was quite a while ago, and things such as accommodations have probably changed, although the sights are still the same. If interested in the trip report, click on my name to find it.
