How wired is Spain?

Traveling to Madrid, Toledo, Cordoba, Granada, and Seville...should I take my small computer (notebook) or leave it at home? Are there Internet Cafes or now days is everyone expected to have their own? Do hotels have free wifi? It's been 4 years since we were last in Europe and I know things have changed. Thanks!

Yes, take your computer with you, there are many places that offer free wifi or as the pronounce it in Spain wee-fee. And if wi-fi is not available that have incredibly cheap stores that have Internet connections called locatorios.

Yes, Spain is much better than most places. I'm sitting in our 2nd floor room at the Parador in Cáceres using the WiFi on my Mac Air.

You will also find some tourist areas in main towns are wired, so outside council halls where people sit and chat are often live

Every town hall has internet available, loads of internet cafes, many bars in larger towns and cities have free internet and even rural campsites are getting there.

Bring your notebook!

I couldn't agree more, Spain typically has great wee-fee (yes start using it because they will have no idea what your talking about!) accessibility. Some cities provide it as a public service and often beaches have wee-fee service that you can subscribe to (often free). We found hotel wee-fee to be over priced, and preferred to cruise down to a coffee shop or plaza that we could connect at.

In addition (although it pained me every time I did it) you can always resort to McDonalds for free wee-fee, or Starbucks (provides wee-fee with a purchase). If we couldn't find wee-fee in a park or plaza, we would grab a bottle of water from Starbucks and sit outside while we worked on our computers.

Some times libraries too, but now I would say that most hotels have wi fi, very often, free.

Thanks for all your feedback. Sounds like it would be worthwhile to add it to the growing list of items that I must tote around. I think it will ultimately depend on the total weight of my backpack!
