How to reserve a seat in TGV if I have a Global Eurail Pass?

Hello Everybody,

I will go Paris and then to Avignon in the coming August. Now, I am facing a seat rearvation problem.

Can you tell me a web-site that can reserve the seat ?

If possible, tell me morea about that.

Thanks in advance.

Hi hk,

The least expensive way is to purchase your seat reservations in France.

You can also order them from the same people who sold you your railpass.

You could wait until you get to Paris, but because seats allotted to Eurail ticket holders are limited, you could be out of luck. Only other choice I know of is to book a seat reservation through RailEurope (http://www.raileurope.com/index.html). Select "Book a Reservation for Your Pass" from the upper left menu. Unfortunately, RailEurope adds both fees and shipping charges -- my daughter shelled out $25 for a TGV seat reservation and $18 for shipping in June 2011 (she had a Eurail Global Pass). Only good news is RailEurope sent her seat reservations UPS overnight, so she had them in a couple of days.

Interesting, $25 plus $18 plus the price of the pass.

I recently paid 33€ for a TGV ticket from Avignon to Paris which of course included a reserved seat reservation. Passes are rarely a good value and I agree that TGV seats available to pass holders are very limited.
