How to reserve a bassinet for an infant on overseas flights?
We are considering taking our infant daughters on vacation with us next year. Probably not, because just the thought of it raises my blood pressure, but I decided to research the bassinet seats on AA.com because I was curious and couldn't find any information. Are these on a first-come first-serve basis, meaning if I call and book two tickets for our girls and they are available I can reserve them? Do these seats typically cost more?
thanks!

Generally bassinets are on a first come first serve basis. However if someone with a younger child requests one they will have priority even if they ask the day before the flight.
Next year I expect your daughters will be too big for bassinets - they have a size and weight restriction on them. You would need to check with your chosen airline as to what those restrictions are.
Not all aircraft carry them.

Additional resource, if you can identify the exact plane model, www.seatguru.com has some info on amenities for infants.
For example, American Boeing 777-200 model, if you click "infant", you will find that bassinets can be reserved, but I think you have to be in the bulkhead seats.
