How to rent an apartment in Parma?

Happy Labor Day Fodorites!

I am told this is the place to come for insight and advice for information about Italy so here goes. Please help!

I am a artist who is moving to Italy - Parma I believe.

How do I find a real estate agent or other to help me find an apartment?

Your insight is greatly appreciated.

Kind regards.

I just did a Google search for "long term rentals in Parma Italy" and came up with many websites.

As stated above: Googled it. Also try newspapers.com and search for for local newspaper(s). Typically they have a rentals section or you can e-mail and place an ad.

www.soloaffitti.it

How's your Italian? This website is only in Italian. It will give you some insight as to what kind of apartments are available in Parma (and the rest of Italy) and the prices. We actually found our apartment in Torino with Solo Affitti.

Also ask on slowtrav.com on the Italy Forum. There are LOTS of people on that board with local Italian experience, many of them expats.

Actually you should be posting this question at http://www.expattalk.com rather than here on Fodors. (BTW, I'm an expat living in Italy since 2003.) You'll probably find some expats that live in Parma on the Expat Talk website. The people on that forum are very helpful.
