Train from Roma Termini to Napoli. There you will have to change to the local commuter train - Circumvesuviana.

www.vesuviana.it It's in Italian. What did you want to know? It's a commuter train between Naples and Sorrento and the cost is under 5 Euro.

To get to Capri you would have to take a ferry from Naples or Sorrento.

For Sorrento hotels try www.venere.com
www.sorrentoinfo.com

daisy we did the Rome to Sorrento trip by train on November 2. We loved our stay in Sorrento and I can recommend our hotel Villa di Sorrento. It's convenient for arrival by train, an easy, I thought, 5-10 miniute walk with luggage from the station to the hotel. It's located just off Piazza Tasso so convenient for access to buses as well. It's a three star hotel and the November rate we paid was 90 euro which included breakfast buffet. I hope this helps you. Deborah

Hi daisy,

Train schedules and tickets for Rome to Naples are at www.trenitalia.com.

The Circumvesuviana is a commuter train that runs several times an hour, leaving from the downstairs level of Naples Centrale (Piazza Garibaldi).

It costs less than 5E and takes about an hour.

Enjoy your visit to Sorrento.
