How to get luggage from Paris to Athen??

I am now in a panic situation.
We are flying from U.S. to Paris on Continental which allows 3 checked bags apiece.
3 days later (not a connecting flt.) we are flying Air France Paris to Athens, there 2 days, then on to Med. Cruise for 13 days returning to U.S. from London on Continental.
Have just found that in Europe luggage is charged by the pound. 50lbs.free per person (100 for 2) after that $120 for each additional 20lbs.
I estimate my extra charge to be approx. $1,000 and cannot cut the amount I am bringing.
Any suggestions as to how I might get 4 suitcases (I will not need these in Paris) from Paris to Hotel in Athens for when I arrive there.
