Take the Airport Bus to Piazzle Roma or take a cab or bus to Mestre station and take the Train across to Santa Lucia Station. You can also take a boat into St Marks Sq from the Airport.

Thank you Gerardo.
We will probably take the bus to Mestre and train to Sta.Lucia, as I just found out,(upon taking another look in my travel books), that those trains go 6/hr and take only 5 min.,

But what is your reasons to choose Bus + Train over a DIRECT BUS to Piazzale Roma ? I'm puzzled.

Well Kappa if Parfym wants to end up at the Santa Lucia Train Station I think it makes good sense to go to the Mestre Train Station and take the quick train trip to the Santa Lucia Train Station.

Hi Kappa,
Our reasons for wanting to be near Sta Lucia train station is,
that our hotel( 4 nights before leaving Venice for Lucca), is near the Sta Lucia Train Station.Going from Mestre via their quick train to Sta Lucia seems easier than going to Piazzale Roma and then to where we want to be. Does that answer your question?
Thanks to all who offered advice and information.

Piazzale Roma is as close to the Santa Lucia station as any motorized wheeled traffic can get. But it's not "right there".

Before you decide on the direct bus to Piazzale Roma (down in the "real" Venice) versus the bus to Mestre and then the train, assess your exact needs: Where is your hotel in relation to a) Piazzale Roma and b) S. Lucia station? Which way do you need to move on arrival, and by what means of transportation? A vaporetto line that only stops outside S. Lucia? A vaporetto easily accessed from Piazzale Roma?

Check at http://www.actv.it/english/home.php and with a map.

Then you make the decision.

Thank you for info and suggestions, Wally K.

When we come out from S.L. Station, we go left a few blocks, and there is the hotel.
