How to get from Paris to Versailles

Jump to last reply

I'm having trouble understanding the following instructions on how to get from Paris to Versailles. This is from the official Versailles website.
RER C
To get to the palace of Versailles, make sure to buy a "Paris - Versailles Rive Gauche" ticket (zones 1-4) (T+ ticket is not valid for this journey).

SNCF Trains
Arrive at Versailles Chantiers station from Paris Montparnasse
Arrive at Versailles Rive Droite station from Paris Saint Lazare

Please don't yell at me. I'm doing the best I can. What does RER C mean? What are SNCF trains: Do we take the metro and transfer to a train? We are staying in the Left Bank.

How far will we be walking to get from the Versailles Chantiers or Rive Droite stations to the palace? We will already have the Paris Museum Pass. Thank you very much.
