How to get from AMS to Hotel Fita?
We arrive in two short weeks! I'm planing on taking the train to Amsterdam Central- then a tram. Which tram number? Does it drop us near the hotel or will there be a lot of walking? Would a taxi be a better option? Thanks!
Also- I need to book train tickets from A'dam central to Koln (yes, I know, I still haven't done it!!!) I read that I might be able to book them while I book our first tickets to A'dam central... would that be a good option? Last year we wasted way too much time booking at the station itself. And buying online makes me nervous since we don't get a paper ticket...

I just did a bit more researh- the Connexxion (sp?) bus takes us from the airport directly to the hotel for 12E pp- is this a good deal? I'm thinking that is might be and would save a bit of time and energy.

Even before I read your second post, that is my suggestion. The Connexxion shuttle bus is excellent and couldn't be easier.
I'm all for public transportation, but especially if Amsterdam is your first stop off a long plane ride (it was mine)... staggering around with jet lag, taking the train, then figuring out a tram, all with luggage... not worth it to me.
If you buy a round trip ticket on Connexxion I believe it saves a couple euro. Your hotel can call them to get you on the pick up list at the end of your stay.

Thanks Suze! I'm like you and like to take public transportation whenever I can. But... this will be our first stop and since I'm traveling with my mom, I think the Connexxion bus is out best bet.

It's very easy. When you exit the airport, straight ahead you will see various transporation pick up spots at the side of the lanes of the road.
I asked an airport worker who pointed me to the place to stand. I believe they run every 1/2 hour or so. They make a list of which hotels from their loop they have passengers for, and only stop at those. I did not make any plans in advance or reservations. I believe I must have paid the driver the fare.
