I am going to visit my daughter in Weisbaden in late August. Flying to Venice for the f irst time. We are also going to take the train to Paris (from Weisbaden) in early September. Can someone tell me what kind of clothes to wear. Are jeans too hot? Any tips would be most appreciated.
How to dress for late August in Venice

2001: A Maitaitom Italian Odyssey - "The Lost Trip Report"

Expect temperatures AND humidities in the mid to high 80's. Lots of people, sidewalks and public transportation packed, not as much air conditioning as you are used to.
If I were a woman, I would wear gauzy cotton skirts and tops. It is the time of year when women have it better than men.
You will die in jeans - just returned from Venice mid-June. Loved Venice - but it was crowded, hot and there is no shade anywhere. Big restaurants and hotels have a/c, but all the cute little cafes do not. Your way of getting around will be either walking - and all those canals have bridges over them, with stairs on each end - or water bus, which is crowded and not a/c.
I never wear a dress - but the 2 casual, light-weight dresses I brought with me were perfect - and when we were out all day allowed me to feel appropriate later going into a restaurant.
I always wear a very lightweight dress in hot places - much cooler than even linen trousers as you benefit from air circulation!
