I wish to take the metro all the way to Basilique Saint Dennis, this is such a fascinating place to visit. Is it all right to get into the ligne 13 for such a long time and go all the way?

Hi G,

>Is it all right to get into the ligne 13 for such a long time and go all the way?

I don't think that they will let you "go all the way" on the metro.

Is it safe? Yes, if you take the usual precautions.

Last two times I was in Paris, last year, I took the metro alone to Saint Denis to visit the Basilica. Not a problem. Nothing different from other metro lines but I'm a man so you might think it's not comparable.

My wife and I took this trip two summers ago. It was fascinating, both the basilica and the immigrant neighborhood it is located in. We did not feel uncomfortable in the least.

I've taken the metro to St-Denis and felt perfectly safe. I think there are more pickpockets in central Paris where most of the tourists are than in the outskirts.

I think Ira was making a joke! The metro is fine and the St Denis area is fun to explore .

Saint Denis Cathedral is one of my favourite's places to revisit every time I go back to Paris.

I have taken take ligne 13 quite often.
Never had any problem walking around the neighborhood or having lunch there.

Don't even give it a second thought. I agree with adrienne, pickpockets would be more of a concern on lines with lots of tourists. Riders on line 13 to and from St-Denis are just normal people going about their day.

The ride to St Denis is not long. It took me less than an hour to get from the front door of my apartment on rue JP Timbaud to the entrance of the basilica. From St-Lazare, it's only 11 stops to St-Denis Universite, maybe a 15 minute ride at most.
